Marking the final year of the air-cooled 911, this 1998 Porsche 993 Turbo Coupe was originally configured for the German market and factory-finished in the rare Paint to Sample color of Royal Blue Metallic. It features a Papyrus leather-to-sample interior with contrasting Night Blue accents, optional Light Rootwood trim, stainless-steel door sills, heated seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a Nokia digital sound system. It remained with its original owner until 2007 and had been kept as part of a collection in the Netherlands by the second owner before it was purchased by the seller and imported to the U.S. in 2023. This outstanding final-year 993 Turbo is now being offered for auction out in California with approximately 49k kilometers or 30k miles showing on the odometer.
The 993 Turbo’s wide bodywork includes model-specific bumpers, side skirts, and a fixed rear spoiler. This example is one of the very few cars to have come factory-finished in Royal Blue Metallic (3AN), a rarely seen color offered exclusively as a Paint to Sample option during the 1998 model year. Equipment includes Litronic xenon headlights, headlamp washers, integrated fog lights, European-spec side marker lights, an electric sunroof, a roof-mounted antenna, a rear window wiper, dual exhaust outlets, red brake calipers, and 18” Technology hollow-spoke wheels. New Michelin tires were mounted in December 2023. The seller notes the hood and the front fender were refinished for cosmetic purposes. Detailed images and paint meter readings are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin showcases Papyrus leather-to-sample upholstery with an optional contrasting Night Blue leather dashboard, steering wheel, gear knob, headliner, and carpets. Other options include heated power-adjustable seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, stainless-steel Turbo-script door sills, Light Rootwood dashboard trim, a leather-covered steering wheel airbag module, a leather-covered CD storage compartment, leather sun visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, a Nokia Digital Sound Processing (DSP) audio system, and a Porsche CDC-3 six-disc CD changer. The car is also equipped with automatic climate control, cruise control, a central locking system, a Porsche CR-31 cassette stereo, and a Nokia mobile phone handset.
Rated at 400 HP and 400 lb.-ft of torque, the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers power to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Standard equipment includes an Automatic Brake Differential (ABD), power steering, multi-link rear suspension, and fixed 4-piston brake calipers with cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The seller notes the brake fluid was flushed in May 2024. Service records dating back to the original owner's purchase show routine maintenance performed at an authorized Porsche Center in Germany.
This sale will include German owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a tire inflator, two remote key fobs, service records, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: "PTS Royal Blue Metallic/Papyrus with deviated stitching, all original, fully documented. In all my years around Porsches, I have never seen a Royal Blue Metallic example across any generation (no one I've met has either). The car was completed on March 14th of 1998 - two weeks before the last ever air-cooled Porsche left the factory. This is a rare Porsche and truly last of the last of its breed."

@bphillyer after I posted my comment regarding wheels yesterday, I did a bit more digging but was still getting conflicting info regarding what options code 408 meant on a 993TT. So I brought the car to my shop today and they were able to check the wheel part numbers for me with a mirror (all the lifts were in-use). The wheels, optioned 408, are indeed the hallow spoke technology - part number 993.362.136.00 in the front and 993.362.140.00 in the rear. See attached photos.
I am also uploading a cold-start video of the car that was omitted during the PCar submission.
@bphillyer yes the hood has been repainted for cosmetic reasons previously which is very common in Europe during that time, but looks to be a perfect match in all lighting conditions.
Re paint meter reading on hood, re-sprayed?

@bphillyer thanks for the compliments and the questions.
The underside corners of this car look very good overall and I took a few very close up photos with my phone this morning. The front has a few marks, but all very shallow. The back end has a couple marks on the cover that are barely noticeable especially to the naked eye, and the marks can't even be felt to the touch. No scraps on any of the exhaust components whatsoever. The photos make it more pronounced than in-person, and keep in mind all RoW Turbos ride 10mm lower than US versions.
As for the wheels, I double checked the build sheet (Photos 279-281) and I see the options code 408 which I *believe* are the Turbo Twists. I will confirm with PCar and have them update the text as necessary.
The car has been in the US since March of 2024, I bought it at the end of 2023 from a prominent Dutch collector. Since the car is over 25 years old, no changes have been made during the import process - the car is 100% factory original. It has a Montana title, and has not passed CA emissions. It will require a CARB sticker due to Euro VIN but there are labs that can perform the work if need be.
Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!
In view of European license plate displayed on rear of car:
1. Has car passed CA emissions?
2. Is car registered in California, or other State?
3. Was anything done to the car in order to bring it into DOT compliance?
4. How long has car been in the US?
Also, please be so kind as to verify four (4) 18” hollow-spoke technology wheels. Photos of the reverse-side of each wheel mounted on this car would be appreciated.
One of the nicest 993 Turbos I’ve ever seen. Color combination is nicest I’ve ever seen. Looks like car well cared for. Would you please be so kind as to include a few photographs of the underside of the bumpers, including the underside of the 4 corners of the vehicle - the front and rear areas that are most prone to scraping when entering and exiting driveways?

Saw this car in person this morning and it is super clean. The color is one I had never seen til today and it's such a good combo with that interior. Who ever bids will not be disappointed. A great example of a 993 RoW Turbo with a rare PTS color and a bunch of other cool options.
Thank you for the interest and kind words so far, I'm available all week and will be checking in often for any questions. Car is fully documented and very well taken care of its entire life, winner will not be disappointed.
This car was on BaT in August. Many questions answered there. Love the interior/exterior combo
Beautiful example. Well kept. GLWS
