@Fastauto Good evening, thank you for the question. The sign is made from a very rigid industrial plastic material. I can not say for certain what it is called but the front has a nice colour and the images are sharp. It also cleans easily. The rear has a textured backing and feels almost like rubber.

@Killerbs54 Good evening and thank you for getting in touch. You have raised some very valid points and I will address them the best that I can.

This particular sign was from the Lancaster groups Norwich showroom which as you correctly spotted was in England. The Lancaster group were the original importers of Porsche into the United Kingdom and operated three franchised dealerships in the south east - Cambridge, Colchester and Norwich.

In the early days, dealership protocols and strict unified conformity was not as it is today. The term 'Ricambi Originali' to the best of my knowledge was exclusively used for the Italian market. To my knowledge, any sign bearing this wording along with the English translation is not an authentic Porsche produced item.

However, Lancaster were known for there art collection and the sign must have been produced by the firm and was predominantly displayed in the Norwich service center prior to its closure many years ago.

The Lancaster group of dealerships were sold and taken over by the Jardine Motors Group which still has a powerful presence in the UK market to this very day.

I have noted the statement below from the company website for you:

"Our Porsche Centres are located in Cambridge, Colchester, East London and South London.

Originally founded in 1969 by Ronald and Nicholas Lancaster, the Jardine Motors Group operated as a family owned business in East Anglia representing Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Porsche and Ferrari. In 1981 Jardine Matheson acquired 76% of the company before taking 100% ownership in 1992. Since that period, Jardine Motors Group has expanded its operations both geographically and with the addition of further premium brands including BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Volkswagen, Aston Martin, Bentley, Toyota, Maserati, Lamborghini, MINI, Smart and Honda to its portfolio to become one of the UK’s most prestigious retail motor groups. Jardine Motors Group represents 14 of the world’s most renowned car brands across more than 50 locations in the UK and employs over 2,700 colleagues. Our mission to be ‘the best motor retailer as judged by you’ lies at the heart of the business as we strive to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

    Parent Company:

Jardine Matheson was founded in 1832 as a trading company, based predominantly in China. The conglomerate is incorporated in Bermuda and is primarily listed on the London Stock Exchange. The group also includes Jardine Motors, Jardine Pacific, Hong Kong Land, Dairy Farm, Mandarin Oriental, Jardine Cycle and Carriage, and Astra International. These businesses are leaders in the sectors of motor vehicles, insurance broking, engineering and construction, retailing, luxury hotels and restaurants, property investment and development and mining and agribusiness."

In closing, this is a great piece of garage art that would grace the wall of any Porsche enthusiast, and one with a legitimate history behind it.

    Kind regards

Do you know the history of this sign since it's in English and Italian with a British sticker on the back?

  • vo152 (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@artichoke Good morning, I would estimate the shipping to be approximately $100. I actually feel it could be less but sadly I have not had a moment to package it as of yet in order to obtain an exact price. However, that being said I do believe it will be around $100. Thank you

How much is shipping to Maryland, 20814, USA?

  • vo152 (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

    Good evening everyone,

Firstly, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all of you for the bids and interest you have shown in this item.

Due to working commitments as of late, I regret to say that I have not been giving my full attention to the auctions and informing everyone with regards to shipping information.

However, I would like to try and address that now. As of yet I have not packaged the sign but based on its dimensions I would estimate the shipping to be approximately $100 (possibly less or possibly a touch more). It is not until the sign has been fully enclosed with the appropriate protection and wrapping that I will then be able to accurately disclose the exact cost. I would rather be fully transparent with you than mislead anyone based on a guess.

And finally, I have given the reserve price some sincere thought and I have decided the best course of action is to reduce the reserve to match the current bid that has been placed. Just to confirm, the final bid when the auction ends will be the winning bid.

Thank you once again everyone and I wish you all the very best of success.

    Kind regards
