Hi, the mold for this piece was destroyed years ago. So there will be no more produced. I recently found this cast resin piece in my storage and decided to finish it and mount it down as you see it. The painting process is much like painting a real car... prepping the surface using a catalyst primer to get all the surfaces straight and smooth. Then there is the actual primer and then the colors are applied using high quality automotive paint and then the clear coat is applied for that highly reflective surface and shine. A lot of hand finishing to bring it to this level of finish.

    Hello,

Can you tell me more about how it is painted? Also, you mentioned molds. Is there more than one of these sculptures?

    Thank You.

Thank you for all of you bidding on this sculpture.

Again, this is a one of a kind sculpture of the 917K, hand crafted and modeled.

One of the things that doesn't show up in a sculpture at this scale is the amount of work involved even before it's prepped for painting. Creating the shape and form that shows the movement, getting the scale correct, what details to leave in and what to leave out, making the mold off the original, casting the piece in resin, etc. - these are all essential parts in this process that takes many, many weeks to do.

There were many hours finishing and prepping the cast resin before painting. As you can see in the photos, the final painting and finish of the surfaces are professionally done with a beautiful clear coat that really adds that finishing touch.
The base is a black, wrinkled powder coated surface. All this makes this sculpture a very unique work of art.

I just attached a photo of my book for those of you who have never heard of it - PERPETUATING PORSCHE PARANOIA. It's not available and it's a collector item. A copy will be included in the sale.
