Available for auction is a painting by Greg Stirling featuring the "Porsche 917 - Winner at Le Mans''. This 48" x 33" x 1.5" artwork is an original handmade painting on canvas. Made from 100% cotton canvas, acrylic paint, oil pastel, acrylic spray paint and then finished with UV resistant acrylic clear coat to ensure its longevity. Included with this art piece is a certificate of authenticity that includes exact specifications, details of the artwork, and how it was created.
The Porsche 917 is a sports prototype race car developed by German manufacturer Porsche to exploit the regulations regarding the construction of 5-liter sports cars. Powered by a Type 912 flat-12 engine which was progressively enlarged from 4.5 to 5.0 liters, the 917 was introduced in 1969 and went on to dominate sports-car racing in 1970 and 1971.
Greg Stirling lives and creates in San Jose, California. He recently became a member of the Guild of Motoring Artists, and his work has been featured in numerous automotive art auctions. He started creating art in 1980. After going through three decades of self-guided exploration in abstract expressionism, the art of the 20th century, and post-war impressionism, he arrived at the door of realism. To continue his area of study, Greg experimented with new techniques, media, as well as innovative processes and concepts. Mr. Stirling is also an engineer, kinetic metal sculptor, and automotive enthusiast.
A message from the seller: "This painting embodies the richness and texture of a handmade art piece and encompasses the warm color palette presented in post war impressionism and abstract expressionism. This original painting is a canvas that is stretched, gallery wrapped and ready to hang. Pictures on the walls are to scale. A portion of the proceeds from this auction will be donated to charity."
