Available for auction is "The Spirit of Daytona", an original painting by photographic artist David Marra of the famous 1969 Gulf Porsche 917K, winner of the 1970 24 Hours of Daytona race, made from acrylic media on canvas. This Porsche 917K #2, Chassis 917-015, won that race by 45 laps, still the largest margin of victory in the history of the legendary endurance race.
This painting measures 40" x 30" on heavy artist-grade canvas, complete with a solid black 1.5" gallery wrap border. It is finished with acrylic gel and pastels, then overlaid with a high-gloss medium to further enhance and protect its vibrant colors and to ensure unmatched durability. After mounting the canvas, a dust cover panel was installed over the wood stretcher bars on the rear to give the entire canvas a clean, professional look while enhancing its long-term integrity and durability.
This is a unique, one-of-a-kind, painting and no reproductions or prints will ever be offered of it. Hand-signed by the artist and complete with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, this original painting makes a beautiful addition to any automotive enthusiast's art collection. Wall hanging hardware is also included.
Dave the artist states: "I have specialized in making transformative and photo-realistic art for over 15 years and, as a life-long Porsche fanatic, currently owning both a classic 911 and a brand new Macan, the subject I enjoy painting the most is, of course, Porsche cars. This particular Porsche race car is a favorite of mine and I have had the privilege of seeing it in person many, many times. It was a true honor to make this painting of it.” The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.
