Available for auction is a Porsche 2.0 FLAT 6 ENGINE originally from a 1972 914/6, essentially the same engine that powered the 911T.
This engine holds a unique distinction with its serial number (6420032) associated exclusively with the 914/6 (only 260 units made for that year), making it highly desirable. It can easily be installed into a 914/6 chassis or bring significant value to a 914/4, as cars with a flat-6 swap command impressive valuations.
The engine comes complete with Weber carbs, exhaust, heater boxes, wiring loom, air filter box, distributor, flywheel, clutch, and alternator—essentially all components bolted to the engine. It is a running engine, as demonstrated in the provided video.

We got asked about the location of the serial number and how come it is not in the same spot as a 911(under the alternator).
Apparently the location of the engine in the Porsche 914-6 does not allow visual access to the usual spot(under the alternator), and therefore the engine serial number on the 914-6 is on the top of the engine case next the thermostat.
That would leave the usual spot (under the alternator) blank.
Also the engine type of this engine is 901/38 consistent with 914-6 engine type.
I will add a picture shortly.

While I haven’t seen this engine (and luckily don’t have a car for it!) I did meet the seller when we were looking for a 993 roller last year. He was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Fun historical facts about this engine:
The production numbers of the 914-6 were as follows:
2637 units for 1970 (Row and North America)
402 units for 1971(Row and North America)
260 units for 1972 (RoW only)
Total units 3299
This engine is from one of 260 cars built of the last production year (1972) only for the RoW market. The high price of the 914-6 and its price point that almost matched the 911 price was the cause of the phasing out of the 914-6..
@Buchloe I am representing the owner of the engine. In his words: "Apart from the fact that the engine starts, runs and pulls the 911 that is bearing it adequately, we don't know much about its life. The engine is a Euro Market as no 914-6 came to north America in 1972. This is consistent with the fact that the 911 bearing the engine now is a Euro market car". The owner does not have information as to the maintenance and the mileage. The compression test results are reasonable and consistent. Under engine pictures will be posted shortly.
@Seller What kind of history can you provide ? Mileage? Service ? Thank you!

Happy New Year 2025 PcarMarket Enthusiasts / Crew / Friends / Family / Bidders / Past-Present & Upcoming Winners of great Lots!
Engine ⭐️6420032⭐️ is up for grab this week. It would be great for this original engine to find the original car. ( … or at least back in another 914-6 or restoration that needs an original engine/ in a true 914-6).
Plan B: Buy the engine, as a winter project, to fit your 914/4 ; not a plug & play mission, but certainly a way to experience / experiment pure bliss of Zuffenhausen’s Real Symphony behind your back.
Plan C: Same Pattern as Plan B, using your Beetle and/ or your WestFalia!
Awesome Decision to Boost the excitments, the Pizzazz & the Value of the Built!
PS: Saving Private Ryan. Let’s use the community here to Reunite / find the Original Car that had THAT engine.
Peace ✌️
