Available for auction is a pair of stunning and astonishing illuminated RUF Automobile signs. This remarkable "package deal" consists of one large-scale 7' X 3' (82" x 40”) sign and another 3' X 1' 1/2 foot sign that was displayed at the only American RUF Dealership in Dallas, Texas.
The iconic RUF brand has stood for excellence in the automotive world at the highest levels. Located in the heart of Bavaria, Germany, Rüf Automobile is a family-owned car manufacturer. In addition to the family name of the founder Alois Ruf Sr., Ruf stands for engineering excellence, originality, passion, and pure driving excitement. The prideful long history of RUF Automobile started in 1939 by Alois Ruf Sr. as a German service garage but later began experimenting with vehicle designs in the late 1940s. His love of automobile customization and design was passed down to Alois Jr. when he began servicing and restoring Porsches in the early 60s. It wasn't until 1975 after the passing of Alois Sr. that the first RUF model Porsche came into existence. The RUF 930 was officially unveiled in 1977, followed by the naturally aspirated 911 SCR in 1978.
Today, RUF still continues its long history of creating custom Porsches. The family business stands out not only due to its in-house manufactured high-performance and elegant vehicles but also for its attention to detail and craftsmanship which is evident in every RUF car that leaves the factory.
Besides Ruf Automobile GmbH's headquarters and its subsidiary in Pfaffenhausen, the company is represented in Canada, Chile, Great Britain, China, Thailand, and Japan, but no longer in America which makes these RUP signs unique (as a couple) provenance so desirable and highly coveted.
The two RUF signs are both stated to be in near-perfect soft restoration condition as the old neon tubes and ballast were removed and the sign was updated with LED internal lighting. The large RUF sign was on the outside of the RUF Porsche Dallas Dealership and the smaller sign was inside the main salon of the showroom and is very well preserved with no fading or starches on either of the beautiful outer emerald green lenses.
