Available for auction is one of the most sought-after street signs in the world. From the exclusivity and extravagance of Monaco to the special history of the Monaco Grand Prix; the infamous Casino de Monte-Carlo and its charm both in real life and on film, and then that very special connection to the legendary and beautiful film actress Grace Kelly, the Princess Consort of Monaco. These are just some of the noteworthy reasons why this particular sign is so special.

The Avenue Princesse Grace was once the most expensive street in the world. It is merely just over a mile long on the waterfront of Monaco in the Larvotto ward, yet it has hosted some of the world's most famous movie stars, racing car drivers, members of royalty, and captains of industry. The glamour, the panache, and the attraction that the Principality of Monaco, a sovereign city-state and microstate on the French Riviera, is quite literally unfathomable. To own a sign such as this is quite literally an amazing yet surreal experience.

According to the seller, the sign is believed to be from the late 1970s. It measures 20" x 12" and has an approximate 1" depth. The construction is metal and the weight is approximately 3 lbs. The original supports are still intact and there are no obscene markings apart from small signs of use including general surface scratches and small chips. The seller states there is some light corrosion on the decorative supporting studs in each corner but absolutely nothing that will detract from the simplistic beauty of this street sign.

Whether you are a nostalgic fan of Grace Kelly and her films, a lover of the Monaco Grand Prix, or one who possibly works in the real estate sector - then this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to own a genuine and absolutely wonderful piece of Monaco history. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.

Amazing buy - I had to bow out when it hit a thousand. I checked all over the internet, this definitely seems to be a very rare chance. Congrats to seller and winner

@urfealex Good evening and thank you for getting in touch and for the questions.

Yes, there is now a newer sign that has taken the place of this one. I can not say in good faith how often it has changed over the years but the other night I uploaded a number of photographs of the Avenue Princesse Grace itself and the very last photograph is showing the current sign as far as I am aware.

According to the notes I have, the sign was purchased from an auction house in Europe and was authenticated as being original.

How the previous owner acquired the sign is genuinely unknown to me, I even stated that in the video as it is not normally the kind of item one can simply purchase at will. That being said, it was certainly purchased by my family via lawful means. I can also state that the purchase price was significantly more than the current price of the auction on PCarmarket and it is genuinely a little concerning if a no reserve auction was indeed the wisest of decisions.

I agree, the sign is in exceptionally good condition and worthy of questioning, but I can comfortably say it has not undergone any reconditioning. When its held in your hands and viewed up close in person you instantly know it has not been restored.
The black letters are slightly faded, there are numerous scratches, a couple of small chips and various swirl marks that were not overly easy to capture on the camera, but they are present.

    I do hope this helps.

    Kind regards

So, I am assuming there are now new signs marking the " The Avenue". Do you have any authenticity paperwork related to this sign . Was it formerly bought at auction? Stolen? Has it been reconditioned as it looks like new. Thanks in advance.

    Good evening everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I have added a small collection of photographs tonight (mainly screenshots) of the Avenue Princesse Grace.

It is in many ways the 'motor mile' of Monaco as it hosts the main dealerships and showrooms brands such as Ferrari (sales and service interestingly), Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, Bentley and even Maybach. There is even an Agip fueling station at the entrance to the avenue itself which is quite fitting.

Among the photographs you will also notice one of the most expensive single car garages in the world (its the one with the Mini convertible parked outside). This is the waterfront residence of Princess Caroline who was the daughter of Grace Kelly. The Mini is also her favored mode of transport which even possesses the number plate '0007'. The Police station is next door to the building also!

The very last photograph I have attached tonight is that of the current sign that is in place for the avenue.

As I am sure many of you will know the Monaco Grand Prix was over the weekend and was quite an event as it always is. I just thought it would be helpful to highlight some interesting points for everyone watching.

    Kind regards

Hello everyone and thank you for viewing this auction.

First of all I would like to thank @ethanpotato1212 for the bid that you have placed (many thanks again for the bids on the other auctions as well).

Unfortunately I have a relative in hospital at the moment and an overload of commitments and I do sincerely apologize to you and everyone watching the auction for my late introduction and for the lack of information regarding shipping.

I just want to let everyone know that worldwide shipping of this sign is available. As of yet I have not packaged the sign as it is currently in storage, however I have listed below an estimated cost of the shipping based on the dimensions:

    UK - £40
    Europe - €70
    U.S.A. - $80

The price may vary slightly (possibly less and possibly a little more). I am always keen to make sure items are very well packaged and as a result the shipping estimation may change slightly. I always use UPS and each item is fully insured against damage or loss. Furthermore, I do not charge for the actual packaging of the items as I have an abundance of packaging material in storage. The only cost would be for the actual courier itself.

If anyone has any questions please just let me know. Due to my current working and personal commitments and the time zone difference, there may be a slight delay in my response. However, I will always reply to any message as soon as I can.

I want to thank @ethanpotato1212 once again for the interest you have shown and I wish you all the very best of success in the auction.

    Kind regards
