Available for auction is an original 1964 poster designed by Erich Strenger highlighting the Porsche 904 and its victories. It’s said that no one has helped to shape the image of Porsche as much as Erich Strenger. Strenger, a graphic designer created adverts, brochures, and racing posters for Porsche and founded Porsche’s in-house magazine, Christophorus. To commemorate its success, Porsche issued this particular poster in July 1964 which displays a wonderfully drawn image of the 904 at speed as well as a number of victories notched up during its first year. This particular poster is an original factory issue but displays patina including fading and missing pieces however is largely intact. The poster measures approximately 33.3” x 46.4” and is mounted on archival linen.
The 904 was launched by Porsche ahead of the 1964 racing season to comply with homologation regulations and was designed to compete in the FIA-GT class at international racing events. The 904 was extremely competitive and quickly racked up a 1-2 finish at the Targa Florio and had class wins at Spa, Sebring, the Nürburgring, Le Mans, Watkins Glen, Zandvoort, Canada, and the Paris 1000 Kilometer.

If anybody wants to discuss further restoration of this poster, happy to do so. I did ponder recreating the bottom section and it is doable but then it really gets to the point where you end up fixing everything else to keep things consistent. Kind of like restoring a car - you paint one part and the original part adjacent looks not so good by comparison so you get roped into a years long restoration.

Hi Porsche enthusiasts - welcome to my auction of this original 904 GTS poster. I've been buying and selling posters for over 15 years and sometimes you just have to save them.
This one was offered to me a while back with some others and I thought it best to scoop it up and see how it turned out. It can be restored back to something close to original and complete but patina is trending these days so i thought it best to leave as-is (although I do have a much nicer original one in stock).
