Available for auction is a collection of nine pieces of Michelin memorabilia, each featuring Bibendum, the iconic Michelin Man, used for advertising and promotional purposes.
This unique set includes a cast iron Bibendum in a red biplane (4.5”L x 4.5”W x 3.5”H), a blue race car stamped "Hubley 1934" (approx. 10”L x 4.5”W x 3.5”H), a standing Bibendum figure with a yellow sash marked “REG 67548 Detroit” (approx. 5.75”H x 5”W x 3”D), and a standing Bibendum coin bank (7”H x 4”W x 2.5”D).
Also included are two small cast iron figures—one holding a tire overhead and another leaning on a tire (both 3” x 3”), a Bibendum riding a tire while inflating it (approx. 9” x 5” x 5”), and two vintage cast iron signs: a “Michelin for Aircraft Tires” sign dated 1937 (13.5”W x 7”H, stamped "Chelsea" on the rear) and a “Michelin Metallic” sign dated 1939 (approx. 11.75” x 8”, stamped "London" on the rear).
The seller states all pieces are in good condition with some paint chips and scrapes consistent with age and wear. A fantastic addition for collectors of Michelin history and automobilia. I am excited for this win. I really like Michelin. I am in West San Jose and would have no problem picking up my win in person. Save any issue with shipping.
