Available for auction is a fully rebuilt Fiat 500 engine, restored this spring in Palermo, Italy, and suitable for 1965–1972 Fiat 500F models. The seller states the engine was completely overhauled using all new parts. This classic 499cc 4-stroke, two-cylinder inline engine features an aluminum crankcase with finned cast iron cylinders for improved cooling, and an aluminum cylinder head with integrated valve guides and seats.
The valvetrain includes overhead valves actuated by rocker arms and a camshaft driven by chain. The pistons are aluminum alloy with three compression rings and one oil scraper, while the connecting rods and crankshaft are made of special cast iron with alloy shell bearings.
Fuel is delivered via a mechanical diaphragm fuel pump and carburetor, with a centrifugal fan and mechanical thermostat managing the air-cooled system, which also channels airflow to assist oil cooling and cabin heating. The ignition system operates through a distributor with automatic advance. This meticulously rebuilt engine reflects the correct specifications and design features of the original Fiat 500F drivetrain. Hey Jim,
Hope the link worked for you.
Yes, the engine is fully overhauled, ready to go. Fits any 500 from 57 to 61 without modification. I think it fits other years also - let me know and I'll research it for you.
... maybe viewers know if all years are the same?
