Available for auction is a remarkable collection of seven vintage 8-day car clocks, featuring one Benrus, one Longines, one Sandoz-Vuille, one Westclox, and three Waltham models. Highlights include the rare 15-jewel automatic Desotomatic Benrus clock (model DK 14), manufactured in the 1950s, designed to mount in the steering wheel and wind automatically as the wheel turns. The 6-jewel Sandoz-Vuille clock, circa 1920s, originally mounted on rearview mirrors and sold under Abercrombie & Fitch's label, showcases a diamond checkerboard face and retains excellent timekeeping. An ornate Art Deco Westclox clock from the 1920s-30s, designed for dashboards or visors, features a charming case and dial, also in good working order.
The collection further includes a 15-jewel Longines clock from 1927, dash-mounted with luminescent hands and a loose second hand requiring servicing. Three Waltham clocks complete the set: a rare, large 15-jewel model (circa 1913) with dual mainsprings, recently serviced and keeping time beautifully; a square 7-jewel clock from 1926, also serviced and performing well; and a smaller 7-jewel 1926 model with dual mainsprings, which will require servicing.
This unique collection is a treasure trove for vintage car enthusiasts and collectors alike. The buyer is responsible for shipping, shipping insurance handling, and transactional fees. PCARMARKET is not responsible for anything lost or damaged during shipping.

In the late 1950s someone smart at Benrus realized that the movement of the wrist that kept automatic watch’s wound would work based on the circular motion of the steering wheel. Just driving the car wound the clock. Benrus used celebrities like Jerry Lewis and Babe Ruth to pitch their watches.
Thanks for your question. I'm on my way out the door, but you are correct. It is the same as the Mopar and Chrysler unit. They just put different faces on the same unit. Look at the pictures and ads I posted recently. More info soon.
Is the Benrus clock the same clock as the Moparmatic and Chyslermatic that I see on eBay? I haven't seen the Desotomatic

I'm excited to offer these vintage car clocks from a time when electric clocks were not an option. Most of these clocks have their origin in vintage pocket watches which I collect. Feel free with your questions and I will do my best to respond quickly. Thanks for looking.
