Available for auction is a Le Mans memorabilia collection commemorating Porsche’s iconic victory at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans. This unique offering centers around the Porsche GT1 that not only won Le Mans on June 6–7, 1998, but also famously flipped during the inaugural Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on October 8, 1998.

Included is a piece of carbon fiber and Kevlar from the driver-side wheel well of that very GT1, visibly seen separating from the car in footage of the crash.

Accompanying this are several highly collectible items: a 1:18 scale die-cast model of the 1998 Le Mans-winning Porsche GT1 signed by drivers Allan McNish and Stéphane Ortelli; a framed and matted print of the flip event titled Lift Off by artist Roger Warrick; a framed official Porsche factory poster celebrating the 1998 win; and a smaller framed factory poster also depicting the victory, signed by McNish and legendary Porsche engineer Norbert Singer, who played a key role in 16 Le Mans wins.

The carbon fiber piece is presented in its as-removed condition, while the other items are reported by the seller to be in very good to excellent condition. The buyer is responsible for tariffs, duties, customs, shipping, shipping insurance, handling, transactional fees or any miscellaneous fees. PCARMARKET is not responsible for anything lost or damaged during shipping.

Man, I would love the smaller one, don't have the space for everything. @Wayne962 if you win can I get this piece from ya (I believe I'm local to you)

    Cool stuff @Dumans24

Thanks for looking at this collection including the GT1 car piece. I was at the race at Road Atlanta in 1998 hanging around the Porsche Team paddock right after the accident. The car and some of the pieces were returned. This piece and a few others were returned on the back of a golf cart. After some negotiations with a mechanic named “Dieter” that included some cash and my hat I was allowed to take this piece. It made the 10 hour drive home in the backseat of my Honda Civic. After telling the story and displaying in my garage for years I have decided to let it go for another enthusiast. Thanks! Kevin
