Now up for auction at no reserve is this 2005 Porsche 997 Carrera S Cabriolet finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a black full leather interior. This 997 comes equipped with several noteworthy features including a 6-speed manual transmission, exterior color-matched center console, and an upgraded Borla exhaust system. Acquired from the original owner in 2008, this Carrera S is now being offered for auction out of New York with approximately 37k miles showing on the odometer.
This Carrera S comes factory finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a black soft top. A set of aftermarket LED taillights has been installed along with clear side marker lenses. Detailed images are provided in the gallery as well as a damage-free CARFAX report. This example rides on factory 19” Carrera S wheels mounted with Pirelli P Zero tires.
Inside, you will find a premium black full leather interior with Adaptive Sport Seats. Other factory options include front seat heating, a remote 6-disc CD changer, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and PCM navigation. The CARFAX report shows a mileage inconsistency in 2021, although this is believed to have resulted from a clerical error.
This first-generation 997 Carrera S is equipped with a 3.8L flat-six engine that sends up to 355 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. All available maintenance history is provided on CARFAX with the most recent documented service carried out in August of 2021. An aftermarket Borla exhaust system has been installed along with a Fabspeed carbon fiber air intake. The original air intake is said to accompany the sale.
This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, and a clean title.

Fantastic car. I have owned 5 Porsche 911s and this is my favorite. Steering and handling is laser.
Sold for $40,000
Congrats ! Good purchase.
First 911, with room in the back for my 4 year old daughter. Short road trip time!
It's fine until it is not. That said I have a 2006 C2 and not planning to do mine until I need to replace the clutch
Someone got a GREAT deal.
My 2005 does not have an IMS replacement. The car is fine. Close to 70K miles and going strong.
Bid in the amount of $40,000
Without knowing engine number, cannot determine if IMS needs to be done as not everyone feels it is necessary in larger version IMS
Just my opinion. Great car. Could go for more.

@luis.seneriz Cold start video just added. And this is a TRUE cold start video. That half of my shop is unheated and the car has been sitting in that spot for a little over a week. Was 40 degrees in there when I started the car yesterday according to the thermometer on the wall.
@LookDownWindow I'm not aware of anything special as far as suspension goes and looked normal from underneath.
Any idea if there has been any suspension work done? Wheel spacers? The car has a great stance. GLWTA
@luis.seneriz Hi there. Thanks for your interest. I always shoot cold start videos for everything and I shot one of this car a few weeks ago and I just couldn't find it when submitting this car. I have 4 auctions going this week on BaT and this one here, plenty to manage and I just can't find that video for the life of me, was planning on taking another and posting it here anyway, stay tuned.
Bid in the amount of $30,313
Seller I’m interested. Can you please post a cold start video? Please show the tailpipes after the start up. This car has the smaller bearing so since there are records I’m calculating replacing the IMs and while there also doing the rms and the clutch. Thanks
@JamesSheedy The top is absolutely fine, in excellent condition and would make no sense replacing it. It's clearly photographed from many angles.
@TobinMotorWorks Can you comment on the state of the top?
Also are you suggesting that the top needs replaced?
Any idea how much it would cost to fix all the wear and tear noted in the interior?
@doolin64 There is some rattling over bumps from the top. I just watched the video again. The microphone on the camera seems to really amplify it.
Is the rattle in the video, just of the camera?
Bid in the amount of $30,000
Good afternoon Pcar! I don't have much of a life outside cars, but today we went to cut down a Christmas tree, so my first post here is a little later than usual. I've already had a couple private messages with questions. Here is some background and additional info that doesn't appear in the description above.
This car, along with a 1987 930 Turbo, belonged to the brother of a good friend and client of mine. The brother passed away last year... his brother, my friend and client, is the executor of the estate and sent the cars to me to sell, they are consignments. I sold the 930 here on Pcar a couple weeks ago, this was his other Porsche.
The car arrived at my shop in Upstate NY (from Indianapolis) a couple months ago, just as you see it. His brother had the exhaust and intake put on during his ownership... not unlike some of the things he did to the 930.
IMS BEARING - I do not know if the IMS bearing has been replaced and I would assume it has NOT been replaced. I would expect to see an LN Engineering sticker somewhere if it had been.
When the owner passed away the family did some serious cleaning out and downsizing of the owner's home office. Whatever records there were for this car were unwittingly disposed of, his brother remembers throwing a bunch of stuff away. His brother told me that both cars were maintained at Redstone Engineering in Indianapolis, a well-known Porsche shop. I was able to get them to send me the records they had for the 930 after several phone calls and a few emails.
When it came time to get records for this car, I got a brief "Yeah, I can't find anything on that car" when I called. I think that might have been because they were annoyed with the car dealer on the other side of the country asking them to spend time doing something they didn't have time for. I even suggested they charge me a couple hours of labor for their trouble, but no luck. As a result, I have no service records for this car. All we've got is the Carfax, which isn't much help after he stopped taking the car to the Porsche dealership a few years after he bought it from the first owner in Massachusetts.
Neither of his Porsches were daily drivers, he had other cars.
