Up for auction at no-reserve is this 2001 Land Rover P38A Range Rover 4.6 HSE finished in Java Black over a black leather interior.  Representing the final model year of the second-generation Range Rover, this P38A is equipped with air suspension and a 4.6L V8 engine that drives all four wheels through a 4-speed automatic gearbox and dual-range transfer case.  It has been under the care of the current owner over the past 11 years and has been treated to a considerable amount of refurbishment with major service in 2021 including new ignition components, gaskets, seals, and a radiator.  It is now being offered without reserve by its owner out of Texas while showing approximately 205k miles on the odometer.

This Range Rover is finished in Java Black and features OEM military-spec taillight guards.  An invoice shows over $2,600 invested in exterior refurbishment including corrosion repair and refinishing of the roof, paint touch-ups on the hood, and refinishing of the area where a front brush guard once covered.  An invoice for the exterior work is provided in the photo gallery along with a collection of detailed images and a clean CARFAX report.  The 18” split five-spoke alloy wheels have been recently refinished and dressed in Cooper Discoverer H/T tires. A full-size spare is also included in the trunk

Inside, this Range Rover sports a luxurious black leather interior with burled wood accents.  Creature comforts include power-adjustable heated front seats, automatic climate control, a glow-in-the-dark analog clock, a radio, and a central display with navigation.  Some LCD screens are reported to be slightly faded, and all other gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.  The air conditioning system has also been recently recharged.

This P38A derives as much as 222 HP and 300 lb.-ft of torque from a naturally aspirated 4.6L Rover V8 engine.  All four wheels are driven through a 4-speed automatic transmission paired with a dual-range transfer case.  This model also features a first-generation air suspension setup. The exhaust pipe was replaced due to corrosion several years ago and new ignition components and filters were installed earlier in 2021. A major recent service was also performed by DuSouth Rovr of Dallas which included a new timing cover gasket, oil pan gasket, front crankshaft seal, windshield washer jets, and a new radiator.  Some maintenance invoices are provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals, service invoices, a spare wheel, a jack, and a clean title. At no reserve, this Range Rover offers an opportunity that is not to be missed.

@CEM3 Thank you for your question! I took the car in for a tune-up in March 2021. They provided a list of things to be checked off and then returned last month, May 2021, to have the shop complete those. To be clear, mechanically speaking, this car is incredibly sound given all the work that was recently put into it and should not need any additional work for a good while longer-- I have taken care of it. The total cost of the first round was $1495, followed up by $3,681 ($2,999 after the discount), which I paid out of pocket—photo 108 in the gallery.

@lil.zhang Not a problem at all! I am happy to help with shipping.

I sold a Porsche 911 on this site last year and had that shipped off to Ohio. For transparency, I had a call with the winning buyer, executed the transaction, then completed the sale— I brokered with the shipper, sent over some photos of the car being loaded up, and communicated via text through to the cars arrival. I have shipped cars before for work/school/other reasons and can coordinate if you need help with shipping. I just ran a search to Orlando from Dallas and it should be $400-600 depending on your timeline.

Do you offer shipping? Or I mean just help me arrange to ship the car but I will actually pay for the cost in the end. I’m located in Florida.

@Bengt What updates are you looking for?
    1. Alternative Car 3/3/2021 New Battery
    2. The Range Rover Frisco 3/4/2021 Full Brake Service
    3. DuSouth Rovr 3/26/2021 shows Ignition Coil, Wire Set, Spark Plugs, All Filters and Fluids, and full-service tune up-- the checked the suspension and made a couple of recommendations for the next round of reconditioning
    4. DuSouth Rovr 5/10/2021 shows all things identified during #3 fixed including Timing Gasket, Oil Pan, Crankshaft, Water Pump, Windshield Wiper Nozzle/tube, All Door and back hatch struts (the back hatchback lost its spring/grip so I replaced), Full Radiator, AC charged and tuned, et al. things the shop saw and fixed $3.5k worth of repairs without the friends and family discount. Really any buyer should see a massive value in this. Good shop (read the reviews online), and really worked with me to get this beast fully reconditioned and tuned up. They were the ones that checked out the suspension during my first visit. I don't have a suspension service record because there was no work was needed to be done!
    5. Harvey Paint and Body 3/26/21 Exterior work on the vehicle including reconditioning of the taillight guards, front rock chip/dent buffed out, and a minor fading on the front from an OEM front guard paint/blend/whole 9 yards.

This car was incredible before I started reconditioning it. You see how much care and effort was put in given the steps that I took to check off all the boxes. Happy to provide more answers and updates (as you can see there is at least 8k into this car in the last 3 months.). Hope this suffices, thanks so much for reviewing, and hope you consider buying!

    Dear Buyers,

I am the current seller of this vehicle and here to answer any questions that you might have.
The car was always garage kept and used as a personal vehicle of an elderly family member in rural NC. It was under their care for over a decade and usually used as a Sunday vehicle to drive a group to church before I have used the vehicle as a daily. The Rover has an authentic "town and country" charm, and one drives like a chariot fit for British Royalty. We are selling due to a consolidation effort and would love to see the truck go to a great home. In the last three months, we have checked all boxes--revamping and refurbishing the performance, putting over $8k into the mechanical and exterior of the vehicle (see receipts in photos), as well as countless other ancillary purchases and upgrades.

Rest assured that suspension is in great shape (fully operational going up and down), all fluids have been flushed and brakes serviced by Land Rover Frisco (Certified Dealer), and Transmission/Engine fully serviced/tuned and in fantastic shape through a nationally recognized Land Rover restoration expert. The interior and exterior of the vehicle are in near impeccable quality for a 20+ year vehicle. We even went the extra mile eliminating any possible rust growth points, bodywork/rubbing from an OEM grill guard, and beyond (full details in the attached photos).

Few vehicles rival the true versatility of the P38, holding an old British nod to city luxury but also being a powerful work truck if you wish to use it for those purposes. This is a fantastic edition as a collection piece, daily driver, or investment set to appreciate on par with the Gen 1 Range or Defender. Again, let me know if I can answer any questions or provide any more information on the vehicle. Happy bidding!

So glad to see the P38 start showing up on these types of sites. I own a very similar example and will be following this. Really fun trucks, with a driving style that is comfortable and distinctly old school.
