Up for auction at no-reserve is this 2000 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Black over a Savanna Beige interior.  A lifelong West Coast car, this 996 was originally sold in Colorado before making its way to California in 2004 where it has remained ever since.  The IMS bearing is said to have been previously replaced and an extended powertrain warranty has been purchased which is transferrable to the next owner.  Equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission connecting the driver to a 3.4L flat-six engine, this 996 Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California while showing approximately 70k miles on the odometer.

This 996 is finished in nonmetallic Black with a matching black convertible soft top.  The convertible top motor has been replaced and the front bumper and hood are reported to have been previously refinished, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This first-generation Carrera rides on 18” Turbo look wheels featuring colored Porsche center crests.  The Nexen N7000 tires show date codes from 2008 in front and 2019 in the rear.

Inside, you will find a Savanna Beige interior with optional supple leather upholstery, automatic climate control, and power-operated front seats.  Some moderate signs of wear are visible throughout the cabin and all factory specifications have been retained.

This Carrera is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six engine that sends as much as 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission.  The IMS bearing is said to have been previously replaced along with the thermostat.  The last documented service was carried out in April of 2021 at 69,854 miles and the seller reports brake pad thickness at 7mm all around. A third-party extended powertrain warranty has been purchased and is valid up to 100k miles or the expiration date of 8/28/2023.  The warranty can be transferred to the next owner for a $50 fee.

This sale will include an owner's manual and an open California title. Do not miss your chance to own this 2000 Carrera Cabriolet at no reserve.

Another 996 will sell in the 20's.
No one thought these cars would make a comeback. The 996 is the new 964. The 964 was hated and shunned upon by car magazines and collectors back in the day. Now people are priced out of the market as most people can't pay $50k plus for a car. Preferably the coupe 1st gen 996 has climbed in value and surprised many in the the last 3 yrs

@luis.seneriz You sure can. I’ve done the trip several times myself and enjoy the experience. It’s a great opportunity to really get to know your new car. We’ve done our part by having Porsche Newport do a full inspection prior to sale you should be just fine.

Thanks. You think I can fly over there and drive the car home with no issues?? I bought my coupe in a small town in Wisconsin and drove it straight thru 1300 miles home, awesome way of getting to know the car.

  • nuvotrade (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@luis.seneriz It means that the car carries a clean and clear California title. No liens, loans, or leases to hold up the transfer to the new owner.

@trishafle. When theowner purchased the car he was told that the IMS, clutch, and RMS had been done. However the seller no longer had documentation of this so the current owner wanted to put a warranty on the engine should anything happen. The warranty is good till 2023 or 100k miles whichever comes first. Yes you are correct a very small number of these engines fail but it is still a very real concern. This car is covered should anything happen. Hope this clears things up.

I own this in an 01', still in love with her! GLWS and curious to see where the market is...have you done the IMS? I'm only at 30k and not really considering it at this time! seems like that is such a small % of engines! anyway, good luck!
