Offered for auction at NO RESERVE is this 1987 Porsche 924 S coupe. Having received a full engine overhaul just this year, this example is now stated to be in excellent running condition and is being offered with a clean bill of health and a clear rebuilt PA title.
Finished in white, this 924 is complemented by desirable NOS 924 hood stripes that give off an overall sportier feel. The paint is stated to be original aside from a respray of the driver's side fender and front lower spoiler. The exterior finish does show some typical road wear, but overall, presents itself as a very nice driver. Currently installed are a set of factory phone-dial wheels that wear Douglas Performance tires.
Inside, you will find a black and cloth interior that stands in great condition for its age and mileage with the only notable flaw being a slightly cracked dashboard. The air-conditioning compressor has been rebuild and converted to R134A, assuring cold blowing air for the next owner. An upgraded Blaupunkt radio with Bluetooth capabilities has been installed and is in perfect working order along with all other functions. Factory options on this 924 include power windows, pass side power mirror, cassette holder center armrest, power sunroof (removable), and power steering.
This 924 is equipped with a recently refreshed 2.5 L inline-four cylinder engine that produces approximately 150 HP and 142 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller had acquired this car after an engine fire during previous ownership. He then commanded a complete overhaul of the entire engine, bringing it back to top-level running condition. Upon the owner's purchase, the following repairs were performed:
- Rebuilt cylinder head
- Head, intake, cam tower and exhaust gaskets
- All filters
- Fuel lines
- New rollers
- New water pump
- New Timing belt
- New speed and reference sensors
- New Balance belt
- New plugs, cap and rotor
- Rebuilt injectors
- AOS and seals replaced
- NEW Lindsay wiring harness
- Rebuilt DME with new idle drivers
- Rebuilt Rack and pinion
- Rebuilt Steering pump
- New steering lines and reservoir
- New shift linkage
- Clutch hoses
- Master cylinder
- Heater valve
Images and receipts of all work performed will be included with the sale.
The sale will include the original spare, jack, keys, and records from current ownership consisting of parts receipts.

Sold for $3,300
Just want to thank everyone for participating! This was not exactly the result I was hoping for but the buyer got a great deal and the market has spoken! Thanks Pcarmarket for a great service!
Thank you.
@JB-718. Thank for the bid! Good luck!
@goldwolf thank you! I picked up an 80 924 with M471 last month which is the only reason why this one is available. Thanks for the compliment!!!
Bid in the amount of $3,300
@GuyS I agree, I own an 1981 Weissach 924, you've done a lot of work and it looks good.
@goldwolf couldnt agree more! Not counting my labor, I have way more into it. These are the last of the affordable Porsches but not for long. Prices are increasing and we will probably all be kicking ourselves 5 years down the road
Price is too cheap! Good luck!
@Peabo Can't argue with that. Six years is on the bubble for me but erring on the side of caution is never a bad thing!
@GuyS Given the date code, I'd replace the tires for anything but a local drive. That was my only concern.
@719Autowerks I replaced the entire engine harness and decided to upgrade the troublesome factory reference sensor harness with the Lindsay Racing replacement. No other harnesses were affected. Thanks!!
How much of the wiring harness was replaced with the fire damage? Thank you
Got a few emails asking if the buyer could drive this car home out of state. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere! Good luck to all the final bidders!
@treynold. Thanks for your bid!
Bid in the amount of $2,900
@kevinduffy. Thanks for your bid!
@RacingPorsche Good question. There has been no change on the dipstick in 1000 miles but I have seen a drip or two on the garage floor. It's the tightest 2.5L I have ever owned as far as leaks go but then again so many of the seals have been replaced
Does the car have any leaks?
Thanks
Bid in the amount of $1,500
Bid in the amount of $1,000
@HTClassic Thank you for the bid!
Bid in the amount of $750
@Peabo 3413 is the code. 2013. Thanks!
@GuyS, please share tire date codes
@CHC2 @CHC2. Awesome. Please use the contact seller button that is right about the gallery photos below. I can then send you whatever info you need. Thanks
Send me your email address - as I have further questions. Thank you, CHC2
@JB-718 thanks for the question. It does not have LSD unfortunately
GuyS: does the car have a LSD?
@JBoxerGT2 @JBoxerGT2. I don't believe so. I purchased this from the insurance company. It spent the last 20 years in NJ
Is this Kevin Duffy's car Sparky? You buy it from him?
@johndan12 Great Question! Yes, this fire was caused by a failed fuel line which is, unfortunately, VERY common on these cars as they age. The fuel hoses on these run right over the intake manifold. Fuel line replacement is a MUST on all 944s and 924s. Fuel lines have been replaced and are good for another 30 years!
Very tempting! Do you know what the cause of the engine fire was - was that addressed in repairs?
@Wassergekuhlt2 thanks for your bid!!
Bid in the amount of $500
@9146max Thanks for the bid!
Bid in the amount of $250
@HometownClassicCars @HTClassic It was totalled by the insurance company in Feb of 2019 due to a light engine fire. I purchased it and performed all the repairs. It has a Pennsylvania Reconstructed title. Thanks for the question!
Can you comment on why the title is reconstructed, and also what state is it titled in...
