Finished in a soft shade of yellow over tan vinyl upholstery, this 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster replica is said to have been completed in the early 2000s and cared for by a single owner until 2019. It features a widebody configuration along with bullet-style mirrors, polished 15” steel wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps, a Nardi steering wheel, and a 1,835cc flat-four with dual Weber carburetors. This Speedster replica is now being offered for auction out of California. Click here to view the previous PCARMARKET listing.

Presenting a widebody design, this Speedster replica comes finished in a shade of yellow complemented bv chrome trim. Details include bullet-style mirrors, teardrop taillights, gold-finished Porsche Speedster lettering, and a Leitz-style luggage rack that mounts a suitcase and vintage skis secured by leather straps. It rides on polished 15” steel wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps and BFGoodrich Touring tires from May 2018. The seller notes the front end was repaired after damage occurred in June 2006 and the front bumper and hood were refinished. Some paint chips are also noted on the hood, front bumper, and door jambs.

The cabin features tan low-back bucket seats with matching door panels and carpets complemented by a body-color dashboard. Equipment includes a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, a Kenwood CD stereo & speakers, and a Kicker 8” powered subwoofer placed behind the seats. All gauges and accessories are reported to be working properly.

Power is derived from a 1,835cc flat-four engine with dual Weber carburetors and an EMPI electronic fuel pump. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transmission while stopping power is delivered through 4-wheel drum brakes. The seller notes damage to the Monza exhaust tips. A recent service is said to have been carried out, and a host of service documentation will accompany the sale.

This sale will include a clean title and service documentation.

The seller would like you to know: “I have owned the Speedster for the past 3 years and enjoyed every moment of it with my kids and the miles of smiles it has brought to our family. The previous owner was an elderly gentleman who owned it for over a decade and kept every single record/receipt in addition to writing stories of his journeys along the way. I have always properly maintained it and was always stored in my garage. To the next owner, this Speedster is turn-key and won't have to do anything to take it on its next adventure. Please feel free to reach out for a Pre-Purchase inspection or if you have any questions. Thank you”

@SubRedTed Yeah I can relate! We had a 65 Shelby Cobra replica several years ago we had to sell because I got complaints (from you know who!) it was too loud and dangerous getting in and out of it with the side pipes.... :)

  • SubRedTed (registered bidder) 15 hours, 49 minutesago

I owned one of these in the past and my wife says it was more enjoyable than the 65 Shelby cobra. And funny enough, it was the only sporty car I’ve ever owned that got equal attention from both men and women lol

    Cheers

    Good Morning Everyone,

There is a couple hours left in this "No Reserve" Auction. I will be available for any last minute questions or comments. Keep in mind this is a turn-key car and needs nothing to enjoy it this weekend (or next depending where you live)! ;)

Thank you to all the recent bidders @Doctornocarguy, @tyecotterkey, and @Cking.

I will be in touch with the winner after the close.

    Happy Bidding!

@pmoonan Hi Patrick, it sounds like a fun and exciting trip however the car is selling to the highest bidder in this no reserve auction.

  • Scudder (registered bidder) 1 day, 12 hoursago

@pmoonan it’s no reserve, so it’s going to sell to the highest bidder.

  • pmoonan (registered bidder) 1 day, 13 hoursago

    Dear CarCollector48,

If this doesn't sell, I would be curious if you would be willing to rent it out for a week in August? My wife and I are planning a drive from LAX to Big Sur, Pebble Beach, and then over to Yosemite. Happy to negotiate a fair rate (and offer a reasonable deposit for liability). Cheers, Patrick.

Hello and Happy Memorial Day Everyone!
I have attached 4 links below in the comments of videos that might be helpful to some. I took a Cold-Start video this morning, two separate driving videos that show driving as well as shifting through the gears, and an aerial shot from above. Enjoy and I will be available if anyone has any questions. Thank you!

@Pcarmarket - can you post attach it and include it with the other videos. Thank you

  • CarCollector48 (seller) 3 days, 14 hoursago

@TheVintageCarGuy - unfortunately I purchased it without a soft top and had the same thinking as you... "Sunny Day and Warm Weather Cruiser"! Especially here in San Diego. :)

I did do some research a couple years back and saw tops and side curtains ranging from $400-$800 depending on manufacture and texture.

  • TheVintageCarGuy 4 days, 10 hoursago

@CarCollector48 Unless I missed something, I don't see any pics of a soft top or side curtains, nor did I see any mention of them in the description. Is it safe to assume there are none and this is a "Sunny day and warm weather cruiser" only?

  • SubRedTed (registered bidder) 4 days, 14 hoursago

Just saw this car and was like,” I’m not typically a fan of wide bodies but that one looks cool”, then went to bid and realized I’d already bid on it haha

To confirm the origin or builder of this car would be to locate the chassis stamping used as the builders VIN number or ID number. I have been chasing a Beck Spyder 550 replica for a while now. I was given a plant tour at Special Edition Inc. in Bremen, Ind. by the president Carey Hines, earlier this May on my birthday! Carey's father with Mr. Beck were the original starting partners of the Beck Corp. in 1983. I am not a specialist, but Carey explained EVERY beck production model has a stamping tag, VIN number on the rear chassis area. Typically on the passenger side rear of chassis, or by the cross member rear frame support, or on the rear shock absorber tower mostly on the passenger side of the rear chassis. If you find a chassis stamping it will help you to locate the builder of this car.

@wonk Good Morning, I have written a short brief statement below that might interest you and it answers your question.

Please let me know if anything else comes to mind. Thanks

Good Morning Everyone and welcome to my auction for my 1957 Porsche Speedster Replica....

A couple bits and pieces of information to pass onto everyone that is interested. I purchased this vehicle several years ago and has been a fun weekend/show car for me and to continue my passion for cars. Unfortunately when I purchased this from an elderly gentlemen in Los Angeles, CA I was not as educated on these 356's as I am today! The previous owner had claimed it was a Beck and even had receipts dating back decades writing "Becks" on all of them. In addition the title said 1957 Becks and was registered in California (not easy to do).

With all that being said, this is what I think and believe. I can't find anything that Beck ever made a wide-body. I seem to believe it was made by CMC (Classic Motor Company), and quite honestly in my opinion it was built as good as a Beck or Vintage Speedster. There are no tags anywhere on the car to state it is a Beck or a CMC build.

Mechanically this vehicle has been very reliable! It always starts and never has given me any problems in the several years of ownership. It does have a tonneau cover but DOES NOT have a top. I live in San Diego and very lucky here to have year-around great weather so the top was never a concern. In addition the. car has always been stored in my garage.

I will be uploading a couple walk-around videos this weekend to give everyone a fresh look. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Bid with confidence because this one is a beauty that is turn key. This vehicle will be selling to the highest bidder at this "No Reserve" auction.

    Have a Great Weekend!

  • wonk (registered bidder) 6 days, 20 hoursago

Is there a plate anywhere on the body showing the make of this kit? Beck? CMC? I know it says "Becks" on the title and service receipts - but you can say anything on those.
