@peterln3 Having assembled 5 different kits from the same era (early to mid 80s, Tamiya), I can confirm this was very common at the time. You bought them both separately.
Today, you can probably buy a 2.4 GHz transmitter and associates control unit + servos online or at your local hobby store (please use to hobby store to support them).

Lots of childhood memories with this one; with my dad putting these kits together!

  • RadStuff (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@peterln3 good question. The instructions say to consult a hobby shop to purchase a transmitter (controller) and receiver. Any RC or hobby shop should have many options that would work.

Not being an avid RC car buff. I don't see a control unit included.
But being an air-cooled Porsche fan, this caught my interest.
What would I need as a control unit?
    Thanks

@thewhitejet It is definitely an original vintage model. I am not aware of any reproductions ever made of this kit. I would estimate it is from the late 70s or early 80s. And it is HUGE

What year was this specific example produced? It certainly appears vintage and can you confirm it’s not a modern day reproduction?

  • RadStuff (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@MC82 hi Joe. Yes the kit is 100% complete and no assembly what so ever has taken place. The shell is in excellent condition with no cracks.

  • MC82 (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Thanks - is the kit 100% compelete and un assembled? Are all parts in original packaging unopened? Is the shell free from cracks? Cheers!

Hi everyone, welcome to the auction for this interesting rare RC model kit. I could only find history of one other one ever being for sale, it is out of Europe with a damaged box and they are asking $4,600, so while I don't expect it to go for that (I can wish), you are looking at a very valuable and rare kit in such excellent condition. It would be great to keep as is in a collection, or very cool if someone actually plans to assemble it as intended.
