Available for auction is a 1.6-liter inline-four engine said to be sourced from a 1959 MGA Twin Cam. The seller states the engine has been overhauled by MG specialist James Alcorn and the SU carburetors rebuilt by Joe Curto of British Superior. Original parts include polished valve covers, ignition components, a distributor, a pusher fan, a four-into-two exhaust manifold, and a flywheel.
The MGA Twin Cam was introduced in early 1958, featuring a 75.4mm bore and 88.9mm stroke, resulting in a 1,588cc displacement and a factory rating of 108 horsepower. This particular example underwent a comprehensive overhaul between 2020 and 2021, which included the installation of JE pistons, a rebuilt water pump, crankshaft repairs, and the replacement of cylinder sleeves, timing chain, camshaft, and main bearings. Inovices for work done can be viewed in the gallery.
The engine bears serial number 16GB/U/1154 which is consistent with an engine used in an MGA Twin Cam. The seller states an uninstalled clutch assembly and a Lucas generator and starter will be included with the sale. The buyer is responsible for shipping, shipping insurance, handling, and transactional fees.
