Available for auction is an original vintage Used Car Key neon sign, an impressive double-sided display piece shaped like a giant key and emblazoned with bold “USED CARS” lettering. Measuring approximately 36½" at its widest point, 21" at its narrowest, 78" long, and 8¼" deep, the sign retains its sturdy steel construction and includes the original welded angle-iron bracket (about 72" overall, with bracket legs extending roughly 10" to 13" from the sign).
Estimated to weigh between 100–200 lbs, this storied sign spent more than 80 years on Fourth Street in San Rafael, California, the same street made famous by the filming of American Graffiti. While the neon and electrical systems require a full overhaul, the heavy-duty build promises decades of display once restored.
