The sign measures approximately 50” inches in length, 13” inches in height with a depth of 6 ½” inches. This double-sided sign is constructed of an aluminum frame with a blue, white, and yellow transparent plastic face which reads “Subaru, Advanced Vehicle Centre”.

@JRBuzzetta Good morning James, thank you for the kind reply.

The Subaru brand was a relatively young manufacturer for the UK as the dealer network started to grow through the late 80’s but more so during the 90’s.

Subaru dealers were considered a reliable family car brand and usually found in the same buildings as multi-trade franchised showrooms that also had brands such as Isuzu and Daihatsu. Subaru seen immense growth and success in the 1990’s and that’s what lead to the creation of the ‘Advanced Vehicle’ network.

As far as I know, the launch of the performance models of the Impreza in the early 90’s is what was classed as an Advanced Vehicle and Subaru designated a selected number of dealers to be the main ‘go-to’ garages for such cars and their maintenance. Specially trained mechanics to help maintain and also upgrade the vehicles was what this was really for.

Subaru had already seen success with rallying in the 80’s but when the 90’s came around and the Impreza was introduced, it really sparked a significant number of private owners here in the UK to consider rally spec vehicles (both in mild, moderate and extreme formats) and there was a significant increase in both road legal and circuit focused cars. The ‘Advanced Vehicle’ network was there to cater for sales and maintenance of these high performance variants (mainly for private individuals) and that’s really all that I know.

I do hope this helps but please just let me know if I can help further.

    Kind regards

@vo152 No worries at all, thank you so much for the pictures. I love seeing it in context.

Do I understand this properly? The sign was used to signify a Subaru dealership that specialized in WRXs and rally preparation?

I believe Prodrive built and prepped the cars, was this more for tech inspections at rallies? Or for non-factory Subaru rally cars?

    Thank you so much,
    James

@JRBuzzetta Good evening, thank you for getting in touch.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the delayed reply. I work for the emergency services and was drafted into overtime today after an early start.

With regards to older photographs of the sign in place, I do have a couple I can share from the dealerships secondary workshop. The sign was not meant to be displayed laterally as it was older branding from the 1990’s, but they did keep it on show (albeit at the back of the premises).

There were less than 20 of the advanced vehicle centres in the UK.

With regards to shipping, the absolute best way to ensure the sign arrives safely is to send it in a wooden crate. As the sign has vacuum formed panels, these really do deserve the added protection of a crate.

The crate may actually be the same price as the shipping itself which does seem a little harsh I must admit. It will cost approximately $250 to have the crate manufactured and posted to myself as I use a company 200 miles away from me as they are exceptionally good. I would then ensure the crate and the sign is fully padded and would send via FedEx (they offer a door to door crate delivery service for both residential and business addresses). The FedEx cost is also likely to be around the $250 mark.

I do apologise once again for the delay and I do hope the above details help.

Please take your time to think it over and if I can help further then please don’t hesitate to contact me.

    Many thanks

Love this piece and think it would compliment my Subaru car collection well. I have 2 questions:

-Do you have a details of the history of the sign? Or pictures of it in period?

-What is the approximate cost of shipping to New York 11721?

    Thank you

Hello everyone and thank you for viewing this auction.

I just want to let everyone know that worldwide shipping of this very special sign is available. As of yet I have not packaged the sign as it is currently in storage.

    Packaging & Shipping:

Every item submitted to the PCarmarket website can be shipped almost anywhere in the world using companies such as UPS or FedEx.

I always do all that I can to ensure items are packaged professionally and safely. I do not charge for the actual packaging of the items as I have an abundance of shipping material in storage. The only cost would be for the actual courier itself.

However, in certain situations a shipping crate may be required for certain items and this may even be a special request of the winning bidder to ensure the safe delivery of the item in question.

Unless a shipping crate has been specified in the listing or in the comments section then this will incur an additional cost to the shipping price as the crate would need to be manufactured.

There would also be a slight delay in the shipping to allow for the crate to be produced as well but a 7 day turnaround time would be a fair estimate.

The creation of a crate is not something I am personally able to undertake, but the good news is I have now found a company that will be able to have one commissioned on request from a dedicated packaging provider. There would be no additional fees to organise the crate production (only the cost of the crate itself would be required and for it to be paid for in advance of production). I do appreciate the delicate nature of some items will benefit greatly from this. To enable a fair and balanced sale of these cherished items, I am happy to spend the time involved to have this request fulfilled if desired.

If anyone has any questions please just let me know as I am always happy to help in any way that I can.

Due to my current working and personal commitments and the time zone difference, there may be a slight delay in my response. However, I will always reply as soon as I can.

Thank you once again to everyone for the interest you have shown and I wish you all the very best of success in the auction.

    Kind regards
