Available for auction is a pair of OEM Porsche Folding Carbon Bucket Seats finished in black leather with black stitching and embossed Porsche crests on the headrests. These rare RoW (Rest of World) specification seats are identical to the U.S. 997-spec versions, with the exception that the passenger seat originally lacked an occupancy sensor, which was later added along with the necessary modules to run without codes in a 991.2.

During the seller’s ownership, they were installed in a 997 with the passenger occupancy sensor coded off as stated by the seller. No longer in production, these lightweight, heated carbon buckets offer an exceptional blend of comfort, performance, and style.

The seller states the leather and bolsters remain in near-perfect condition, while the carbon backs show only minor scratches, making this an excellent opportunity to acquire one of Porsche’s most desirable and hard-to-find seat options. Please confirm fitment prior to bidding. The buyer is responsible for tariffs, duties, customs, shipping, shipping insurance, handling, transactional fees or any miscellaneous fees. And a little history as to why 991 RoW folding carbon buckets exist (at least to my knowledge). Around the time of the 991 the US mandated height adjustment on the drivers seat. The 997 folding carbon buckets did not have this so 991s came to the US with fixed backed carbon seats (commonly referred to as light weight bucket seats (LWBS)) that had height adjustment built into the base. The RoW did not have the height adjustment mandate and their markets were given the option of folding carbon buckets or LWBS.

    As the 997 folding carbon buckets became discontinued the 991 folding carbon buckets were still being produced in Europe and many people that wanted this style seat bought them new and imported them into the US.

  • Porsche5757 (seller) 2 weeks, 5 daysago

    @joe180
    Yes they were installed in a 991.2 prior to me installing them in my 997. The hardware was added to make this happen. Sorry, not sure if any coding was needed in addition to the added hardware.

    Because the occupancy sensor is 991 specific, I simply coded it off when installing them in my 997.

  • joe180 (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 5 daysago

    Can you please answer the question about “were these installed in a 991.2, and would coding be required in a 991.2”

  • Porsche5757 (seller) 2 weeks, 5 daysago

    Just wanted to reiterate that I am happy and willing to pack and ship these anywhere in the continental US.

    I'm also willing to drive up to 250 miles from Charlotte to meet and drop these off!

    Lastly, I'll be traveling to Indianapolis next weekend and could meet and drop these off if the buyer is along the route.

    @suitcase
    I can't speak to the exact requirements but would assume the process is very similar if not identical to fitting these in a 991.2. By far the simplest solution is coding off the occupancy sensor and or memory seat functions.

    Are these a direct swap for 991.1 911 R?

    I think you will need these adapters for the stock rails.

    Can't speak to any of the electronics though

    Yes. There is a thread on Rennlist with a DIY the previous owner followed. https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1078593-gt2-bucket-in-991-2-a-8.html#post16339172

    Were these actually installed in a 991.2 at some point? Just hoping to confirm whether they will plug in with full functionality without coding in a 991.2 (despite the description saying why the harness was added). I.e., did it actually work out? Thanks

    Thanks for viewing my auction!
    Like the listing description mentioned, these 991 RoW folding carbon buckets are physically identical to the US spec 997 version without a passenger occupancy sensor. All of the 991 RoW seats came heated.

    The previous owner bought these new, shipped them from Germany and added the necessary occupancy sensor and modules to use in a 991.2 without any dash lights. I used them in my 997 with no dash lights by simply coding the passenger occupancy sensor off (essentially the car thinks there is always someone in the passenger seat and will still deploy airbags in the event of a crash). A 5 minute job with a Durametic, Fowell, or PIWIS.

    These will drop into about every modern 911 or Cayman from the 996 on forward!
    The seats are in excellent condition. Please have a look through the photos.

    I was skeptical before I bought these but the hype around these seats is real! Super comfy, supportive, light, and stylish! I am regrettably selling these to help fund another car project.

    I can pack and ship these anywhere in the US! If you are not in the continental US please reach out before bidding to discuss shipping options.

    Best of luck!
