Available for auction is a fully rebuilt and restored 1969 Porsche 911T engine, stamped Type 901/16 and bearing engine number 6196078, identifying it as a U.S.-spec 110 HP engine from mid-to-late 1969. This engine was acquired over 14 years ago with a collection of parts and was initially intended as a shop test engine for carburetor tuning. It has since undergone a comprehensive, professional rebuild starting with a full teardown to a bare case, which was line bored and closed by Ollie’s Machine Shop in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
The crankshaft has been crack tested and then micro polished, the connecting rods were also rebuilt in house. Deep Time serts were installed into the crankcase along with new head studs. The intermediate shaft and oil pump were both dis-assembled, cleaned and inspected and were found to be within factory Specifications. The intermediate shaft gear backlash was checked and the case assembled with NOS Glyco bearings, timing chains and guide rails.
The engine now features 81mm JE forged pistons with Biral cylinders, delivering a 2040cc displacement and a 9.8:1 compression ratio—an upgrade that has proven successful in previous builds. Cylinder heads were fully rebuilt with new valves, seats, guides, and hardware. A stock 911T cam with rebuilt rockers and new valve lash components has been installed, along with a new factory Porsche oil cooler, updated pressure control system, and upgraded 930 tensioners. A clear-coated fiberglass shroud, new Dansk exhaust with OEM heat exchangers and muffler, and fully rebuilt Weber 40 IDTP carburetors—featuring factory Porsche logos—complete the build.
The engine is finished with a new internally regulated Valeo alternator, new harness and ground strap, Porsche alternator belt, and fresh timing decal. It is complete from fan to flywheel, air cleaner to exhaust, and has been run on a test stand with a first service already performed, including valve and head re-torquing. All rebuild steps are thoroughly documented via detailed video on our YouTube channel, with 40–50 supporting images available.
Built by our Porsche-only shop in Flagstaff, Arizona, led by factory-trained Porsche mechanic Kurt Donohoe with over 36 years of experience, this engine exemplifies our commitment to craftsmanship, transparency, and the preservation of early air-cooled Porsche heritage. An increase in compression alone will improve the engine's performance, but by how much horsepower I can't answer that, as the engine has not been to the dyno. What increasing compression gives you is a faster burning combustion chamber, and a faster burn rate of the mixture will result in a quicker revving engine.

Does it maintain the stock 110 hp rating?
