Available for auction is a Mobil Gas Pegasus neon sign. The sign features the winged horse that used to be part of the Mobil oil logo – known today as ExxonMobil after the merger with Exxon. Like every brand, the Pegasus has developed over the years and has been adapted to the popular zeitgeist. Originally derived from Greek mythology and known today as the Mobile Pegasus, it represents power, speed, performance, and immortality.
The logo is now synonymous with Porsche race cars of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s and is still used to this day. The sign measures 40” in width with a height of 28”.
