Marking the third iteration of Porsche’s incredibly successful Boxster model, the 981-series debuted new styling, a longer wheelbase, and a revised chassis with improved torsional rigidity. Finished in Black over matching upholstery, this 2014 example was configured with a 7-speed PDK automatic transmission, 19” Cayman S wheels, the Sport Chrono Package, a multifunction steering wheel, the Convenience Package, and the Infotainment Package. Showing approximately 32k miles on the odometer, this meticulously maintained 981 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Rhode Island.

This Boxster is finished in Black with a matching convertible soft top and rides on optional 19” Cayman S wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. Pirelli P Zero N-spec tires were mounted in October 2019, and a recent Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) performed at Ray Catena Porsche on April 26, 2024, confirmed all four tires to have 7/32” tread depth or greater with even wear. The seller describes the paint as exceptional, retaining a deep, glossy finish with no history of accidents, touch-ups, or panel refinishing. Professionally detailed and garage-kept, the exterior is said to be free of swirl marks or car wash scratches, with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Black upholstery and features the optional Convenience Package, which adds heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a wind deflector. The Infotainment Package includes a navigation system and SiriusXM satellite radio. Additional options consist of a multifunction steering wheel and the Sport Chrono Package, which adds a stopwatch dial to the dashboard. The seller reports the interior remains in excellent condition with minimal wear, no tears, and no major blemishes. The car has reportedly been kept smoke-free, and an imperfection is noted on a small section of the passenger door panel edge trim. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.

Powering the Boxster is a mid-mounted 2.7-liter flat-six engine factory-rated at 265 HP and 207 lb-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through an optional 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) automatic transmission. Selected with the Sport Chrono Package, acceleration from 0-60 MPH can be achieved in just 4.4 seconds. A total of 9 service history entries are shown on the CARFAX report, and the seller states a pre-purchase inspection was performed by an authorized Porsche dealer in April 2024.

This sale will include a clean title, owner's manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a car cover, sales literature, and service documentation.

The seller would like you to know: “I am pleased to offer my 2014 Porsche Boxster, finished in Basalt Black over a black interior, currently showing 32,300 miles. Power comes from the 2.7-liter flat-six paired with the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and equipped with the desirable Sport Chrono Package. Additional features include the factory black soft top, 19” Cayman S wheels, factory navigation, air conditioning, cruise control, and a speed-activated rear spoiler.

I purchased this Boxster from a fellow enthusiast and friend, and it has remained bone stock throughout its life with no modifications or paintwork. The car has always been garage-kept, meticulously maintained, and driven only in nice weather. I am a PCA New England member, and this car has attended a few local meets—always drawing attention for its condition and originality.

Service records from new are included. The first two owners had all service performed at Porsche dealerships; the third owner and I continued maintenance with independent Porsche specialists, and I have all supporting documentation. The car will be sold with two keys, owner’s manuals, the original toolkit, a Porsche OEM car cover, and a copy of the window sticker. Clean Carfax, no accidents, no stories.

This Boxster has been a truly special car for me—always treated with care and attention. It is now offered for sale from Rhode Island with a comprehensive history and all the original accessories.”

@1965MG I repaired my door cards myself a few months ago. Was not difficult, only took a few hours and cost about $50 for adhesive and trim removal tools. Easy peasy.

  • campodf (registered bidder) 5 days, 6 hoursago

@vgboxster Totally understand that. I had a Cayenne that had dashboard delamination for the same reason - luckily the door panels are a much easier fix! I've seen Jeff Richardson's channel too. Lots of good info there. Good luck with the auction!

  • vgboxster (seller) 5 days, 6 hoursago

@campodf Just to clarify about the door panel:
    • The delamination you see is actually a pretty common thing on 981 Boxsters and Caymans. It’s discussed all the time on forums like Rennlist and Planet-9—it happens because of the factory adhesive and heat cycling, not because of any neglect or rough use.
    • The fix is simple and well documented. Lots of owners have done it themselves (there are great step-by-step videos—Jeff Richardson’s channel is a good place to start), and most local upholstery shops can handle it for much less than the “specialist” quotes you sometimes see online.
    • I’ve made sure to show the panel clearly in the listing photos and description so there are no surprises. It’s a straightforward, cosmetic issue, not something that affects the way the car drives or has been cared for.

  • campodf (registered bidder) 5 days, 7 hoursago

Based on my research, I'd budget $1100 for the door panel repair to Pedro's Garage plus who knows what for shipping to FL. Wish this was a bit more colorful but might jump in here for the right price.

  • 1965MG (registered bidder) 5 days, 7 hoursago

@Cbodden Maybe you should research delaminated door panels on Pedros Garage for cost of a proper repair.

Come on folks...this is a 981...the pinnacle of Boxsters & Caymans. Should go for a minimum of $35K assuming it's as nice as it appears to be.

  • Cbodden 5 days, 7 hoursago

@1965MG not significant...not difficult or costly to repair.

@1965MG Seems like you missed reading it on the listing, it has been mentioned in the write-up. It also shows in the photos with the top down.

  • 1965MG (registered bidder) 5 days, 13 hoursago

That is significant door panel delamination. It should have been revealed since you are aware of it.

@1965MG • Door Panels: I’ve just uploaded close-up photos of both door panels from all the requested angles. The upper part of the panel is starting to lift, which is a known and pretty common issue on 981s. It’s an easy fix—there are plenty of DIY tutorials out there (YouTuber Jeff Richardson and others have shown the process), I just haven’t gotten around to it myself.

    • PDK Service: No PDK service has been performed yet. Per Porsche’s recommendation and the feedback during the April 2024 PPI, the transmission was operating smoothly (no leaks, wear, damage) and, given the low mileage, the technician advised the PDK service can wait until the next service interval.

    • Ownership: I I expect to be traveling a lot for the foreseeable future and just won’t have the time to use the car.

  • 1965MG (registered bidder) 5 days, 22 hoursago

Sorry, I didn't look at all of the pictures.
    Wheels are presented.
Looks like door panels are starting to delaminate.

  • 1965MG (registered bidder) 5 days, 22 hoursago

    Any documentation of PDK service?

  • 1965MG (registered bidder) 5 days, 22 hoursago

Please post a photos of both door panels. One from latch side (close up at top of panel) and another at level of down window from exterior (close up). I want to determine if the door panels have delaminated which is common in 2014 Boxster and Caymans.
It would be interesting to learn why after just a little over a year of ownership you are selling this car.
I would like to see close ups of all of the wheels to assess for curb rash, etc
    Thank you

    Hi PCARMARKET community!

Welcome to my listing, and thanks for checking out my 2014 Porsche Boxster! I’m a longtime Porsche enthusiast, and this car has truly been my pride and joy. I’ve kept it garaged, driven it regularly but carefully, and kept up with all maintenance—just as Porsche recommends. Service history is complete and well-documented, with records from Porsche specialists and reputable independent shops, and all maintenance is up to date. The car is 100% stock, both keys, original manuals, toolkit, and OEM Porsche car cover are included.
Mechanically, it’s in excellent shape—no warning lights, no accidents, clean Carfax, and tires with great tread left (see PPI from April 2024 for full details). I’ve loved taking it to PCA meets here in New England, and it’s always been met with admiration. This is a special car, and I’m happy to answer any questions about ownership, service, or anything else.

Thanks for your interest, and I hope to find her a great new home!

    Good luck and happy bidding!
