Built by HSR Motorsports to PCA Club Racing GTB1 specifications, this 2006 Porsche 987 Cayman S is a purpose-built race car. Finished in iconic Coca-Cola livery, the vehicle is equipped with a full roll cage, FIA-compliant safety equipment, race-tuned engine enhancements, upgraded lubrication and cooling systems, a precise short-throw shifter, a Guard Pro limited-slip differential, and additional performance modifications. Prepared to compete at the PCA GTB1 level or for high-performance track use, this Cayman has been meticulously maintained since its acquisition by the current seller from Smith MotorWorks in Florida approximately three years ago. It is now being offered for auction out of North Carolina.
Finished in Guards Red with Coca-Cola livery, this Cayman S features a GT3-style front bumper, a custom rear decklid with integrated ducktail, and a custom rear wing. Additional exterior details include hood pins, a front tow hook, and a 997 center radiator conversion. It rides on 18” Apex lightweight race wheels mounted with older Hoosier R7 tires. The sale includes three additional sets of wheels and tires, consisting of one original set and two aftermarket sets, all of which will require new tires. Minor cosmetic wear is noted, and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior has been stripped for weight reduction and configured for dedicated track use. A Sparco racing seat is fitted for the driver and a Recaro seat for the passenger, both secured with Schroth racing harnesses. Equipment includes a MoTeC digital display, an aluminum center console and shifter assembly, aluminum pedals, a red-painted full roll cage, and a fire suppression system. The seller notes the airbag warning is illuminated due to the removal of the airbags.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated, direct fuel-injected 3.4-liter flat-six engine featuring a GT3 82mm throttle body, IPD plenum, Fabspeed race intake, custom-built exhaust, GT3 Motorsports air-oil separator (AOS), and an oil pan extension kit with a deep sump oiling system for improved lubrication. A 6-speed manual gearbox is paired with a Neumerics S-111-NR-CS shifter, riser, and Cup cables, and delivers power to the rear wheels through an upgraded Guard Pro limited-slip differential. Additional performance upgrades include a 997 center radiator, an external oil cooler, an Accusump system, an underdrive power steering pulley, and a GSR electric power steering conversion.
This Cayman S race car is offered with a bill of sale, a TechArt front spoiler bumper in red-painted carbon fiber, and three additional sets of wheels and tires. One set consists of the original wheels, while the other two sets are aftermarket, equipped with racing slicks.
The seller would like you to know: “This 2006 Cayman S was professionally converted to a GTB1 race car and has been professionally maintained over its 14600 miles. This car runs excellently and is a lot of fun to drive. It is excellent for both weekend racers and club racers. The safety equipment will need to be inspected to ensure compliance with racing regulations. I am selling it because I am no longer able to attend driver's education events and want the car to go to someone who can enjoy it.”

@SAMIOT I don't have any records of that being done before I purchased the car. So, I do not think it has been done. I will be performing a compression test soon.
Have the cylinders been checked for bore scoring?
@SAMIOT it hasn't been replaced. An accusump has been installed to ensure oil pressure is maintained to protect the bearing.
Do you know if the IMS bearing has been replaced and with what?

Since I bought the car, it has been maintained by Quantum Speed Works located at VIR.
@Rmineo993 Clarification - Air Power Racing at Miller Motorsports Park.
@Wolfgangvonair Looking back over the records, it looks like most of the modifications were performed by Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. The notes included in the pictures indicate: 2006 Cayman S NASA GTS3 race car, professionally built on a 4k chassis, current mileage 8900. DE car from 2007 to 2013, Raced with NASA at Miller Motorsports Park from 2014 to 2016. Smith Motorworks then purchased the car in Florida for the previous driver, who drove PCA Club races. I bought it in June 2022 and ran PCA DE events. I may have misunderstood who did the major modifications. I hope this helps clarify the history of the car.

Www.HSRrace.com is not a shop.
It’s the Historic Sportscar Racing website.
It’s a groupe like SCCA, NASA, IMSA
@ntudisco @ntudisco, Technically, I think that is true, depending on your state and local laws.

Since, you have the title, does this mean the car can be potentially registered?
Just easier to drive to and from the track.

Yes, PCA events at VIR. 3 to 4 weekends worth.
so the past 3 years it's just seen track days?
There is a company in Dayton FL, https://www.hsrrace.com/, that races in IMSA. This is the company I was told converted this car to the GTB1 specs. The records that I have from that period are in a spreadsheet format and not on HSR invoices.
HSR is a historic race sanctioning body now owned by IMSA. Is there a FL prep shop going by the same acronym?
@Wolfgangvonair @Wolfgangvonair, sorry, I don't know that information.
How many hours on this engine?

@pm2207 I will see what I can get uploaded.
Pic #46 shows NASA stamped cage. Somebody raced it in NASA in 2016. It would be great if you could possibly share photos of NASA and PCA logbooks. It would be helpful in understanding how much it’s been raced.
@Rmineo993 I found the logbook from the Club Racing. I do have some of the data on the Driver Ed events as well.
Hi Rick, do you have any maintenance records? Is this your hpde or race car?
I do have a signed title, but not the PCA logbook.
Hi
Do you have a title?
Do you have a PCA logbook?
Thanks
@Wolfgangvonair HSR is located in Dayton, Florida. I don't know the hours on the transmission, but it was installed on 2/13/2015. The invoice did not have the mileage. It has not been regeared.
Thanks.
Where is HSR Motorsports located?
Another question, what is the time on the trans and has it been regeared?

@Wolfgangvonair @Wolfgangvonair, thanks for the question. That was not set up as a full dyno test. It was done to allow me to run it through the gears. Engine runs great, but I don't have any horsepower numbers.
Rick,
What were the results on the chassis dyno?

Hi, I am Rick and the current owner of this great track car. Please let me know if I can help answer any questions you might have about this Cayman. Thanks for taking a look.
