  • Lot #: V-0056323-MP

Boasting an extremely rare combination of Dark Olive Metallic paint over a Sand Beige interior, this 2006 Porsche 987 Cayman S pairs a 6-speed manual transmission with its 3.4-liter flat-six engine. The car also came factory optioned with heated seats, automatic climate control, the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, 19” Sport Design wheels, and the Bose Surround Sound System. Acquired by the seller on PCARMARKET in October 2023, this Cayman S is now being offered for auction out of California with less than 54k miles showing on the odometer.

Finished in seldom-seen Dark Olive Metallic, this well-presented example features red-painted brake calipers, front fog lights, side air intakes, a speed-activated rear spoiler, dual center-mounted exhaust tips, the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, and optional 19” Sport Design wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. It rides on like-new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, and clear turn signal lenses have been installed. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the Sand Beige standard leather interior equips optional heated seats, automatic climate control, and the Bose Surround Sound System. Other accessories include power windows and mirrors, cruise control, a luggage net over the engine cover, and an AM/FM CD stereo. The seller describes the interior to be in very good condition with minimal wear.

A mid-mounted 3.4-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 295 HP and 251 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 5 seconds and stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes paired with ventilated and cross-drilled discs at each corner. The seller notes all four oxygen sensors have been replaced, and newly installed items include a battery, an ignition switch, an air filter, and a catalytic converter. The latest oil change is said to have been performed on March 7th, 2024.

This sale will include owner’s manuals and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you very much for your interest in my auction. I live in California and purchased the car in October 2023.  I was pleasantly surprised and equally shocked with the wonderful condition upon delivery.  Under my ownership, the car has been garage kept and covered. I drive it about once a week just locally around town. The green metallic paint with the beige interior is a real head-turner. You are getting a car that is in fantastic mechanical and visual condition. I spent a small fortune on maintenance items to pass smog in California. I also purchased brand-new top-of-the-line Michelin Pilot 4s tires about 1 year ago. Thank you again for your interest, and best of luck bidding!”

@Rower19 Appreciate the follow up here. While I have no plans to set up an inspection for bore scoring, I am totally open to do it for any interested parties. I am not sure how long it would take to schedule/receive results nor am I aware of the costs associated with the test. I likely will not be paying for the test but would happily work with anyone who is interested/willing to cover the cost.

I would like to thank everyone once again for the interest and participation in my auction. While the reserve was not met, it really was a pleasure connecting with all of you. The car will be left in the deal tank for now and I look forward to seeing what comes next!

@ntucci would it be feasible in the month we have left to get a scope done for bore scoring?

I've gotta say that I was very impressed with the responses I received from the seller, @ntucci, to my direct message questions from the other day. I feel he is being very forthcoming with answers, and very honest in his description of this car, and his experiences with it. GLWTA!

@Rower19 Thank you very much for the interest!

No worries at all - my girlfriend and I are expecting in about six months, so we thought it would be a good idea to consolidate our vehicles and perhaps purchase a small home with a yard.

I just took a cold start video and am happy to upload. I reached out to the PCARMARKET team as I am unsure of how to upload a video from my phone. For some reason I am able to add photos but not videos. I will post it as soon as I hear back from them! Feel free to shoot me a DM with your phone number or email and I will gladly send the video there.

I uploaded the inspection results from Porsche stevens creek from about a year ago and it talks about the leak. It was explained to me as an extremely minor oil leak that would cost about ~$800 to fix it via changing a seal. The mechanic stated I should not worry about it and only should monitor/fix if it gets worse (The mechanic had to note the leak and service cost for completeness of documentation regardless of whether he recommended I fix or not). I have paid close attention since that service and have not once noticed any oil drippings in my garage.

    Hi,

Firstly, gorgeous car. Secondly, apologies for the being the one to pay the bill for the CATs failing. On the carfax it looks like there were O2 sensors being replaced before your ownership so the next owner (maybe me) is thankful you invested the time to bring it to a dealer to sort it.

What is your reason for selling? Apologies if I missed that in the comments.

Could we please see a cold start video? Focused at the tailpipes, looking for and sounds here, 30 seconds or so of engine idle as the car settles down. thank you!

There’s mention of an engine fluid leak declined service, could you please elaborate?

@Deepcreek Appreciate the question! I uploaded a more detailed photo of the marks (photo 89/89). The marks on the dash are isolated to the driver side.

I had a similar worry about corrosion when I purchased the car. My mechanic confirmed in 2024 that there were no signs of rust/corrosion. I have not seen any evidence of corrosion myself when looking over the vehicle.

The car would not pass smog when I took delivery. There were no check engine lights on, but it failed due to its OBD 2 reading. I took the car to my mechanic, and he recommended testing and changing the two oxygen sensors that had higher response times. We replaced two of the sensors, but car still would not pass. We then changed the other two sensors, and the car still would not pass. I took the car to a local Porsche dealer for an expert opinion. Long story short, the car was not passing smog due to the catalytic converter, and it needed to be replaced. The news was a bitter pill to swallow, and I think I spent over $10,000 on this smog fiasco (refer to details and amounts in the service record photos).

Great color. I do have a few questions:
In photo 67, are those scrapes/marks on the dash? If so is it isolated to just this area or all along the dash?
Can you elaborate on the comment “ I spent a small fortune on maintenance items to pass smog in California”?
Any evidence of corrosion under the vehicle (since it was an East coast vehicle for most of its life).
    Thanks in advance.

This caught my eye in my daily email because I have an 07 Targa4S in this exact color combination. Reading the questions annd seller comments led me to post this. I love the color combo. Every cars and coffee or stop at a PCar event someone stops and stares and asks about it. It does look black in overcast or at night, which is fine. On a sunny day it gets a lot of attention.

Truly beautiful color. Good luck to the seller and whoever buys it.

  • ntucci (seller) 1 week, 4 daysago

@irondesign Apologies, I realized I missed a few of your questions in my reply.

I have never smoked in the car. Given I do not know the previous owners, I cannot say for certain the car has never been smoked in. The car definitely does not smell like it has ever been smoked in.

I do not know if the paint has been redone or touched up historically, but I have not done so under my ownership. The pictures in the listing capture the status of the paint very well (including any imperfections).

  • ntucci (seller) 1 week, 4 daysago

@irondesign Thanks for the question! All mechanical parts on the car are stock. I believe the only aftermarket part is the clear reflectors for the front turn signals (but not 100% if this is aftermarket). I would say the car is in great shape, but needless to say it is almost 20 years old so it's not perfect. There are some blemishes here and there but overall, it is in great visual and mechanical shape.

If you are familiar with the Cayman series and know how it drives, I would not expect any disappointments. I will say however that when I purchased the car, the sellers' pictures made the car look extremely Green. I was a bit surprised when I took delivery that the color was not as green as the photos. Under direct sunlight the green metallic paint really shows (and it does look fantastic). Under darker conditions the car could appear black (still looks great to me and I like the dichotomy). It was not a disappointment to me, but it was a bit surprising. The pictures in my listing are much more realistic than the previous seller's in terms of how Green the car is.

  • ntucci (seller) 1 week, 4 daysago

@Tom_F2 Thanks for the question, Tom. I only have the service records for the vehicle under my ownership. When I purchased the car, the previous seller only had the Carfax report and I took a leap of faith (bought the car without inspection or viewing the car in person). I will take photos/upload the service records since my ownership in the next day or so.

I am considering setting up and paying for a pre-purchase inspection myself and uploading the results. In the case I do not set up the inspection myself, I am more than happy to work with you to arrange an inspection for this weekend. The PCARMARKET team recommends "Lemon Squad" to set up a PPI with ease.

@Manutranman5217 Thanks for the question. The car has a radio (not sure if it is satellite vs. AM/FM). The radio works great. Air conditioning and heating work very well; AC gets nice and cold. Seat heaters work well too. While the car has a CD player, I have never tried it. If it is important to you, I can try and get a CD sometime this week and confirm it works!

Hello everyone - Thank you all very much for the interest in my auction! I will do my very best to answer questions as soon as possible. I have a hectic week at work going on, so please do excuse any time delays in my responses. Best of luck to all you bidders and looking forward to connecting with you all!

Is the exaust stock, has it been smoked in, has the paint been redone or touched up? What would disappoint me if I bought it and had it shipped to NC?

Do you have service records? Is there a way to arrange a pre-purchase inspection? The Carfax is a start, but it doesn't have enough detail.

  • Manutranman5217 (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

Is the car equipped with satellite radio? Do the CD player and air conditioning function normally? Thanks.
