Designated as a launch car for the 997’s inaugural model year, this 2005 Porsche 997 Carrera S Coupe is finished in Black over matching full leather upholstery and features a 6-speed manual transmission. It was further configured with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, heated Adaptive Sport Seats, the Bose Surround Sound System, and more. Showing approximately 131k kilometers or 81k miles on the odometer, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.
This Coupe is finished in Black and modified with an OEM GT3 rear wing. It can be distinguished as an S version from the standard Carrera by its red-painted brake calipers and quad exhaust outlets. Equipment also includes fog lights, an electric sunroof, 19” Carrera S wheels, and optional yellow ceramic brake calipers. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Black full leather interior includes an Alcantara headliner, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, and optional heated Adaptive Sport Seats. Other options include the Bose Surround Sound System, a PCM navigation module, self-dimming mirrors, and a Sport Chrono stopwatch dial atop the dashboard.
Rated at 355 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque, the Carrera S is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine sending power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller states that a complete engine rebuild was performed at a cost of approximately $25k during the most recent ownership. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Stability Management (PSM), an Active Braking Differential (ABD), and Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) come standard, while the Sport Chrono Package Plus and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) were additionally opted for.
This sale will include a Canadian registration.
The seller would like you to know: “Porsche listened to the complaints. No more egg fried eyes on the generation that follows the first-generation liquid-cooled 996. Welcomed 997 roundies… Here we have a Carrera S with a legendary flat-six 3.8L manual. Chassis shows 82k miles; Engine: close to zero. The car has been improved on so many levels, including the Genuine/authentic GT3 wing, which is better than the NEW one! German owner who took great care of it, like only Germans could. Like White on Rice. For some reason, his beloved 997 is too fast for him nowadays. He is ready to migrate to American iron, heavy metal. He is now seeking a decent C2 Corvette, the last item to tick off his bucket list. You're welcome!"

PcarMarket has to make Money as Well.
Hey just checking. Is this car still for sale, or did Alex Bert buy it himself and "drove it like he stole it"? He is a man of his word, right?
James & the Crew are the Very Best.
I was not arrorant. I was just a Defender of a fantastic car against a group of trolls wanting to derail the Lot. It happens sometimes. Part of the Game. No Drama.
Well just finding the final bidding and I think we all knew that this was not going to reach the 65,000+ or minus from the previous auction bidding
Just too much uncertainty and potential misinformation
And while the seller seemed to want to participate and provide information, in my opinion, he also seem to be a little bit arrogant and made it clear that he didn’t really care if the Car reached reserve or he would buy it himself and enjoy the car
Probably not the best attitude to take if you’re trying to sell a car on an auction website
Still a very decent looking Porsche and in my opinion, I think the bidding was probably where it should be under the circumstances
Perhaps it will sell
Perhaps a seller will keep it
Thanks to P Car market for giving everyone a chance to sell their vehicles
James, and all the guys at PCarmarket do a really good job in my opinion
Thanks to All for your contributions.
Greatly Appreciated!

This auction is a lol. Exactly how not to run an auction. Will this end with 'No Bid Yet'. I will be watching
my goodness
we don’t often see this much contentious back-and-forth on PCarmarket
I will say as of longtime Porsche fan owner and seller that both this auction website and the other located in San Francisco has many knowledgeable Porsche fans
They will, as is clearly apparent with this 2005 Carrera S auction, call out anything that doesn’t seem correct or is misrepresented, and I think that’s a very good thing for a buyer
In closing
in my opinion the $60,000 bid if that was accurate is certainly a fair price for this Porsche and then throw in the uncertainty of a failed engine, etc. etc. and even that number is speculative, again in my opinion
Finally, the seller has made it clear. He has no problem with the car and will buy it himself if the reserve is not met so not an easy seller to deal with it seems
Probably not a Porsche you will get a bargain price on
I owned a 2005 Carrera S for several years. It was my first water cooled Porsche very enjoyable.
Good luck all
THE BEST 997 Carrera S on the Market.
Mark my words.
An astonishing concert of cackles. I feel sorry for you, my dear friends. I'm offering you a 20-year-old car with a history all its own, just like yours. Just like mine. With highs. With stockings. Who got back on her feet. Thanks @ to the intervention of good people along the way who gave it the good care it needed. I turned down an offer of $60,000 because this car is worth more, notwithstanding the wrinkles of the past that have been skilfully removed. In favor of a car that is, today, far superior to the one it left the factory in so many ways. Believe me, if this car doesn't make it to the Reserve: I'll buy it. And it will be off the market for the next 30 years. I'll draw lots for it among my grandchildren (whom I don't have yet) and the lucky one will keep experiencing pure Bliss!
To the right ppl: Bid To Win!

Guys stay away from QC rebuilt cars... I`m in Ontario and we don`t we don`t buy cars from Quebec because they can turn a rebuilt title car into a perfectly good car. To many monkey business going on in Quebec.
Visiting the car Later today.
Owner has stablemate Vintage Indian motorcycle to List. Any Additional ℹ️/ pictures on 997: Please chime-in Clicking Contact Seller! And ask for Specifics.
@AlexBert and for the record, I asked specifically about what was replaced initially during the rebuild and you said that there were no IMS bearing issues on a 997.1 Carrera S 3.8L to which you now state they all have issues and if not dealt with, you’d have a bomb…? Again, mismatched information. The itemized invoice doesn’t even show IMS on it.

@AlexBert I literally attempted to ask questions on the last auction site to which you either completely lied about or ignored. You literally said word for word that there was no catastrophic failure of the engine and that the owner “grabbed the bull by its horns” to complete preventative maintenance. After discovering the Copart listing and details, it doesn’t even look like the owner did the repairs during his ownership as the dates don’t make much sense. From my understanding, the shop purchased the car from Copart and did the maintenance themselves then flipped it.
There were so many unanswered questions and questionable replies including one comment questioning if the clutch was replaced during the engine out service to which no response was provided.
You are correct. I won’t be a winner on this one. I thought this would have been something worth bidding on initially but red flags were apparent. I spoke with a few bidders including the highest bidder that you spoke about who offered $60k+5% fees. That was a very fair offer, but from my understanding he was hesitant to go any higher because of a non-refundable $500 fee to see the car in person.
Like others have said, doing an engine rebuild does not constitute to being a high quality build from a reputable shop. Being up front and clear is needed. You valued this car at $65k+5% fees initially, but failed to provide relevant information that would deem the prices and fees worthy.
What suspension is on it? Is it stock??
It is helpful if folks can remember to add currency to any dollar figures being presented, including @pcarmarket. The copart sale was copart of Canada and $30k CAD ($21k USD). The engine rebuild of $19k CAD ($14k USD).
@seller it would behoove you to spend less time trying to dress up your commentary with flashy adjectives and just transparently answer the questions. Doing an engine rebuild in and of itself does not constitute a high quality build from a reputable shop. I agree with you if this is nor the car for you, best to look elsewhere. This is a risky bet no matter what given the history. And for what it's worth, an invoice with a list of parts does not exactly instill confidence on the full extent of the initial problem and the subsequent work performed etc.
@mmckee99 here’s the copart ad. Car noted as engine failure and sold off for 30k. When I asked about it on the last site, the seller said the engine never failed and he did an engine rebuild as a maintenance item…

@noodleboy @thigg12 and just like that the auction from the other site was taken down...... very suspicious. I believe the seller of this car runs the other auction site, so they are probably trying to hide the last result/comments on the auction.
Gallery down Below ( Picture 137-138-139 ) invoice related to the Engine ReBuilt.

@mmckee99 This car was listed on a different auction site with a reserve for $65k plus 5% worth of fees. After no one met reserve, a month later the seller jacked it up to $85k and now it’s on this platform.
I want to say I saw the value in this car, but after learning it had a full catastrophic failure on the engine which ended up being sold on co-part. I don’t see it being worth anywhere near that anymore.
Definitely read through the comments in the other site. Front rotors of the PCCB look like they need replacing as well.
Processing uploads of Engine ReBuilt invoices. That will make the Gallery very soon.
@mmckee99 saw the same auction listing as well. Comment section worth the read through.
@mmckee99 : Good Eyes! Long story short:
I prioritize sending my Porsche to PcarMarket. Natural habitat. When I produced the photo gallery in Drummondville on the day of the 4-foot snowstorm, taking the car out was out of the question. The submission couldn't be accepted with a gallery done in this small, dark garage. So I put the car on a local ( very effective ) site. The highest bid was $60,000 a week after the auction ended. The offer was discarded, politely.
Fresh new Gallery was done outside, golden hour, last week.
Car was put up for sale earlier a month ago. Highest bid was 55.5K CAD with a buy now price of 85K CAD. See the auction here: https://fastcarbids.com/en/auction/4369b5
@michaelpitton You don’t like zesty comments, Style and / or presentation. No need to insult. Move on to the next lot. GTFA. TYVM!
What a ridiculous sellers opening statement. Sorry, not sorry. Added NO value to the car at all. Sheesh....
✨Forgot to mention: NEW ALTERNATOR ⚡️& Fresh NEW Battery 🔋. They Were Fine. But Owner Decided to Change them, preemptive care. +Nano-Ceramic coating as Well, for a Permanent Brilliant Shine ✨✨✨✨✨
@gaiakai i Do have copies on Engine overall invoice. That i sent with original Submission. I will add them at the end of Gallery. Stay Tuned. Comeback Often and Drop Bids!!!

@windsurfar : Thanks For the Comment.
Clarification: I said big hips originally in the Description ( not wide Body ) because: Story: last 30 days: I did multiple F & G-Body 911 listings, and jumped into THIS wonderful 997. Much Much Wider. Different ERA / Period / Millenium.
Automotive industry inflated the Sizes of cars. And Porsche is no Exception. I was mesmerized the other day to see average Jane Honda Civic was bigger than W140 Flagship of the nineties.
PCCB came as Original Option on the car. Plenty of Life Left. Ill ask for precisions. In Approach.
Welcome to Alex’s Lot #141 on PcarMarket, the Place to Acquire the Very Best Specimens.

Do you have a copy of the invoice for the engine rebuild? Was it rebuilt with nickies and an IMS solution?
The listing has been updated.
Interesting 997.1. You mention wide hips in the comments. The 997 S did not come with a wide body. It maintained the normal narrow body panels. Unless a PO replaced the panels? So this is not with “wide hips”. The ceramic brakes are a great option unless they are the original ceramic discs? Have they been replaced and if not how much left on the current discs, as that is a very expensive “brake job” if needed. Thanks.
