The first year the car was offered in U.S. market, the Porsche 911 GT3 was updated in 2004 with 996.2 facelift headlights, revised bodywork, larger 6-piston front brakes, and a more powerful 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine. Wearing a red vinyl wrap over black interior upholstery, this GT3 has been modified with a vented front bumper, an electric power steering pump, a CAE Ultra-Short Shifter, JRZ adjustable coilovers, and an FVD Brombacher exhaust system. The car also benefits from a reported engine and transmission rebuild, completed throughout 2018 and 2019, by Autometrics Motorports of Summerville, South Carolina. Showing approximately 30k miles on the odometer, this track-ready GT3 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Delaware.

For the 2004 model year, the 911 GT3 was updated with 996.2 facelift headlights along with a redesigned front fascia, lower front spoiler, side skirts, and rear wing. Finished in Guards Red, this example features the optional Xenon Headlamp Package and has been customized with a red vinyl wrap, GT3 side stripes, and a GT3 Cup-style front bumper. The ride height has been lowered with JRZ adjustable coilovers with remote reservoirs, and the factory 18” GT3 wheels have been fitted with extended wheel bolts and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Track use is noted along with cosmetic imperfections as shown in the gallery. The CARFAX report shows damage in May 2005.

The Black interior features optional deviated stitching along the front seats, Guards Red seatbelts, aluminum instrument dials, a thicker leather steering wheel, and air conditioning with full climate control. Modifications include a CAE Ultra-Short Shifter and Sabelt multi-point racing harnesses. The seller notes sagging of the headliner, missing switches, portions of the interior trim have been cut, and additional blemishes are shown in the gallery.

Powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six, the GT3 received updates for the 2004 model year including lighter pistons, titanium connecting rods, and an upgraded VarioCam system. Factory-rated at 380 HP and 284 lb-ft of torque, power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. The seller states the engine and transmission were rebuilt by Autometrics Motorsports of Summerville, South Carolina, between 2018 and 2019. Additional upgrades include RSS engine mounts, an upgraded flywheel and clutch assembly, a 997 Cup-sourced electric power steering pump, and pinned coolant lines. The cooling fan has been removed, and an FVD Brombacher race exhaust system is installed without catalytic converters. An engine oil service was recently completed in preparation for the sale.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 is offered with a clean title and just 29k miles. In 2019, it underwent a full engine and transaxle rebuild by Autometrics Motorsports. The car runs and drives excellently, delivering strong performance and razor-sharp handling. Finished in factory Guards Red beneath a matching wrap, this GT3 has been upgraded with a CAE Ultra-Short Shifter, JRZ coilovers, and a robust clutch. Additional modifications include a 997 Cup Car electronic fuel pump, a hydraulic power steering delete, a cooling fan delete, and a Cup Car exhaust system that delivers an aggressive soundtrack.”

Curious about the advantage of the "cooling fan delete". Was is just the victim of the remainder of a harness that was pulled out?

@kindaburnt This GT3 is red from the factory and we do not know the motivation behind wrapping guards red over guards red. Our assumption, is that the wrap is to protect the original paint.

6 hours and owner still hasn’t answered any questions

  • redben (registered bidder) 6 daysago

Does the heat work? Radio/speakers and mirrors? Also, does the front tub have any noticeable damage? I see it has some sort of black paint on it in frunk. And lastly, the slotted strut tower holes. Is that factory ? Thanks

So, these are 29k CUP miles according to the Bring A Trailer listing as cited by "mirthrander" in the PCarMarket comments below? Are all of those BAT details correct, or do we need go over them again here? Example, nothing about the interior is orignal, including air bags and AC (confirm all functioning normal) since it was a gutted car? The transmission is from a 997 and that's the one rebuilt in 2018ish? So on so forth etc per BAT RNM listing.
