This example is finished in Silver Grey Metallic and features a rare “slicktop” sunroof delete configuration. The wheels were refinished in the last several years, and the tires show 2023 production date codes. The seller states the driver’s side fender appears to have been previously refinished, and the exterior is in very good overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Equipment includes four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with Dynamic Brake Control, Dynamic Stability Control, an M sport suspension, and an upgraded Dinan air intake. A large binder of service records is included in the sale.

Offer in the amount of $30,000
That end was pretty solid for a car w/o the big 3 completed. Every car has their warts for a reason.
great battle... I guess wanting a 66000 mile m3 for less than 25000 was a bit aspirational : )

@Montegue
The car has had paintwork in a few spots. By the depth gauge, it appears the passenger rear has been painted, along with the driver front fender and into the driver door.
Bid in the amount of $15,500
@hoctyler you’ve stated that the previous owners are long time friends, but you seem uncertain if the car has had any paint work done. Is it possible to confirm with the PO’s on this?

Bid in the amount of $12,000
@BCM This certainly seems to be what everyone is concerned about. The vehicle has been inspected and does not show any signs of cracking or any issues soon to arise. The vehicle hasn't been tracked or spirited, mostly a garage queen. The previous two owners are long time friends of ours, and they're certainly not the racing type of folks.
BMW E46 M3's are prone to rear subframe issues where the rear subframe crack or separate from the chassis. This has an estimated cost of $1,500 to install subframe reinforcement and somewhere in the $4-5K range if the entire floor needs to be replaced. Has this issue been addressed. If so, please provide documentation. Thanks.
@hoctyler that's always nice, but we all know the E46 m3 all about induction sound ... VANOS!!!!!
Also, the muffler portion I know for sure is Magnaflow. Its not overly loud or raspy. It has a nice tone, slightly deeper than factory.
@GrpNorCalBMWguy We do not have those original parts, unfortunately. There are some extra bits in the trunk in a box, mostly interior pieces that were replaced, such as the console, etc.
I will try to get more pictures uploaded quickly before the action ends.
Bid in the amount of $11,346
I like the interval bidding. : )
great looking car
Nice car. Do you have the take off parts? Header, ECU tune etc. Also more pictures would be nice; Under front bumper, headliner, trunk, spare, tool tray, undercarriage, rocker panels etc.
Videos and paint meter readings have been uploaded to the listing.
Here are the paint readings. I have also uploaded a photo to PCarMarket, so they should, in theory, upload it as well.
I cannot read the front and rear bumper, mirrors, and hood, because they aren't steel, but the hood does appear to be original because there aren't any signs of taping underneath, or it was just a quality respray if it has been.
The roof is consistent between 4 and 5, max range found 3.5 to 5.
The trunk is consistent between 4.5 and 5. max range 4 to 5.5 on the top, and between 3.5 and 4 on the lower portion.
The driver fender is consistent and max range between 6.5 and 7.
The driver door ranges between 4.5 and 7, 6 in most places.
The driver rear quarter appears to be between 4 and 4.5, one small area showing 2.5 and 3.5.
The driver side pillars are consecutive between 3.5 and 4.
The passenger side front fender shows between 3.5 and 4.5 fairly evenly.
The passenger door looks to be 5.5 and 6 on the higher half, with a consistent 4.5 on the lower portion.
The passenger rear quarter panel appears to have been repainted, consistently measuring between 8 and 9, with the lower section showing between 7.5 and 10. Being where these readings were taken, this would lead me to believe that the rear bumper could have possibly been resprayed.
I hope these readings help!
The car had DINAN headers and bolts installed in May of 2007, but have since been removed and are back to original. It does appear to have an aftermarket exhaust on it, though I don't have an invoice for that. The car comes with a huge stack of invoices dating back to when it was new. Below are just a few of the more important services/repairs worth noting:
Wheels were refinished in July of 2023
Windshield cowl cover, MAF sensor, and floor mats replaced July of 2023
Armrest was replaced November of 2023
Tow hook, wheel pin, sunroof tool, lug wrench, and spark plug wrench were installed in the tool kit August of 2023 to complete the set.
The vehicle once had DINAN headers and tune, but the headers were removed and the factory tune was reinstalled in June of 2023
Crank position sensor and oil pressure valve were replaced August of 2022
Passenger seat matt sensor was replaced July of 2023
Oil and filter service with Blackstone analysis was done May of 2024, though I don't have the results of this
Battery and terminals were replaced April of 2024
Complete Bavsound audio was installed August of 2023
Window seals, headliner and pillars, and brake dust shield was replaced March of 2023
Power steering rack, outer tie rods, power steering fluid, alignment, AC belt, and valve cover gaskets were replaced May of 2022
Power steering return line was replaced October of 2021
There are quite a few more receipts and records that come with the car, but most are just oil and filter services, and small parts purchases, etc.
I will get paint readings ASAP!
Looks like an aftermarket exhaust. Can you confirm?
Also, can you share paint meter readings?
@biggreasytaco Ooook. One of those. Got it.
I am relaying the information I have been provided.
I will dig thru the extensive service records, find the information, and report back.
how do you inspect vanos and rod bearings? Vanos you need to take off the valve cover, and rod bearings you need oil analysis. Oh, and you cannot inspect the front sub frame mounting locations without dropping the subframe. Anyways...
Bid in the amount of $10,346
The big 3 have been inspected, everything looks as it should, no issues at this time, so nothing has been done.
Are any of the big 3 done on this (Vanos, subframe, rod bearings)? I didn’t see it in the carfax history, but everyone will be asking, so might as well get that out of the way early.
