One of the rarest versions of Porsche's original water-cooled 911, the 996 Targa features a unique sliding glass roof system and was the last 911 Targa model to be offered in rear-wheel-drive configuration. Equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, this 2003 example is finished in Seal Grey Metallic over Black full leather upholstery. It was further optioned with 18” Light Alloy Carrera wheels, the Xenon Headlamp Package, Porsche Stability Management, the Power Seat Package, supple leather, heated front seats, the Bose High End Sound Package, and more. Showing approximately 80k miles on the odometer, this Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Oklahoma.
The 996 Targa is characterized by its unique sliding glass roof system with an opening glass rear hatch. This example was ordered in Seal Grey Metallic and features the optional Xenon Headlamp Package and 18” Light Alloy Carrera wheels with colored Porsche crests. Other equipment includes a speed-activated rear spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and black brake calipers with white Porsche lettering. The seller notes the quarter panels have been refinished. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing minor damage in August 2016.
Inside, the Black full leather interior is complemented by optional aluminum and leather trim along the shifter and brake handles. Additional options include supple leather, heated front seats, the Power Seat Package, the Bose High End Sound Package, and Black floor mats with Porsche lettering. Equipment also includes automatic climate control, cruise control, and a Becker Porsche CD stereo.
A naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 5 seconds while stopping power is handled by fixed 4-piston brakes and ventilated discs at each corner. Porsche Stability Management was additionally opted for. Recent maintenance includes a new battery and engine oil, and while the seller notes the clutch feels heavy, it engages properly.
This sale will include a clean title.

@agentbell. It was a pleasure talking to you on the phone as you did your research and contacted me. Now let other interested buyers do the same and talk to me. I own the car and have owned this car twice and all its history since it was 5 years old when I first bought it in 2008. As a certified appraiser and owner of it twice. I am the best person to answer questions. and brakes are NOT needed. You posted many comments on BAT so take a rest and let others bid and enjoy ownership and drive car as last owner has for 11 years with no issues. In my 45 years of experience in the car business and owner my dealership Porsche buyers are intelligent and will do research themselves . Again thank you for bidding on it and now let others do the same. Cheers
hmmmm. interesting that the reserve was not met, then it shows up here. Fun car, with some TLC it should last a long time. Just trying to figure out if this is the car or not...
I didn’t take it that way at all. Just good to have the information since I’d be doing the same due diligence and deciding whether/not to take the risk. Again, appreciate it @agentbell4272
@CinnaMint160 Not trying to disparage the car. and the dealer selling it has a great reputation. But the car is consigned and I think the dealer may have over promised the owner on value in its current state
Thanks @agentbell4272. I thought I saw it on BAT but was having trouble finding it. Appreciate the insight.
@CinnaMint160 this car was just on BAT and did. not meet the reserve. After speaking with the dealer, it needs the clutch done, and while your back there the IMS, as the original IMS is still there, Struts are all original and the dealer stated that brakes would need to be replaced soon.
There is body damage to the rear bumper cover and of course front bumper cover is rough. The paint is chipped and scratched along the rocker panels on both sides. . I was the top bidder but after calculating the money that would need to be spent immediately after the purchase i bowed out. I think it is a great car with potential but one needs to know this car needs some $ thrown at it after the purchase.
Best of luck

Beautiful car! Any further details on the minor damage? Also, IMS/RMS done?
