Exclusively produced for the European market between 2002 and 2003, the Ford Focus RS Mk1 marked the revival of the Rally Sport badge and was engineered as a high-performance, rally-inspired hot hatch. Each of the 4,501 examples was finished in Imperial Blue over matching two-tone upholstery and featured extensive upgrades over the standard Focus, with about 70% of its mechanical components replaced. Power comes from a heavily modified turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a Quaife automatic torque-biasing differential. Additional highlights include OZ Racing-developed 18” alloy wheels, uprated suspension, and performance brakes. Having been cared for in Europe, Japan, and most recently Canada, this 2003 example is now being offered for auction by its seller with approximately 60k kilometers or 37k miles showing on the odometer.

Compared to the standard Focus, the RS version features exclusive Imperial Blue Metallic paint and a model-specific widebody kit with flared wheel arches. Equipment also includes a front bumper with integrated fog lights, extended side skirts, a roof-mounted rear spoiler, and a unique rear bumper. Additional exterior details include xenon headlights with headlamp washers, body-color mirror caps, RS badging, and dual chrome exhaust outlets. It rides on silver-finished 18” OZ Racing-developed alloy wheels with RS-logo center caps and older Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Very minor imperfections are noted, and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with two-tone blue and black Sparco sport seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara with RS embroidery. Blue accents extend to the door panels and steering wheel, while aluminum trim accents the shift knob, pedals, and handbrake lever. RS-branded instrumentation includes a 7k-rpm tachometer and a 260-km/h speedometer, along with auxiliary gauges for turbo boost, oil temperature, and oil pressure mounted above the center stack. Amenities include air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, power door locks with an alarm system, and an auxiliary input added to the factory CD stereo. The seller notes a few minor marks on the driver’s door handle.

Power is provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter Duratec RS four-cylinder engine rated at 212 HP and 229 lb-ft of torque stock. Performance features include forged aluminum pistons, revised camshafts, an uprated Garrett GT25 turbocharger, an air-to-air intercooler, and a stainless steel exhaust system. The front wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual Ford MTX-75 transmission and a Quaife automatic torque-biasing limited-slip differential. The RS also received a reinforced chassis, upgraded suspension with Sachs dampers, upgraded Brembo brakes, and a revised steering quick-ratio rack.

This sale will include a Canadian registration.

The seller would like you to know: “I have owned this RS for the past 7 years. It was originally sold in Germany and imported to BC, Canada, from Japan not long before my purchase. This has to be one of the very few Ford Focus RS Mk1s present on the North American soil, let alone the only one for sale at the moment. Don’t miss your chance to bid on a very special car. Meticulously maintained and cared for under my ownership, and even before that, this is the one to get. You won’t regret it! Bid with confidence.”

    @mattch1n
    Thanks for confirming. Was hoping there was a loophole for cars that were never sold here. I guess you could strip it down into a race car, bring it over, rebuild it, and somehow figure out how to register it. I know some guys who have done that. Not sure on the details of the last step but will do some investigating. Buy now price is more in line with what I thought it’d sell for, maybe 5-10% lower

    @the8thbif definitely a steal, less 1/3 of the Buy Now price lmao, they aren't legal in the States because not 25 years old yet, but I'm sure there's some loopholes

    Seems like a steal at current price. Can you import these to the US?

    Had one of these back in early 2000s it's an amazing driver car in the hatch category. Super sleeper. If it didn't need mod to import I'd bid on it! Glws

    @DonM To my knowledge the car not being 25 years old, it is not yet eligible for import in the USA without any modifications done to it such as DoT compliance, headlights, side markers cluster in mph for exemple. The car can be stored until 2028 for any American buyer if that can be helpful. I run a Euro shop in the Ottawa capital region and my facilities would allow me to keep the car indoors nice and warm for a certain period of time in case anyone would be interested.

    Do you know if this car can be registered in the US without modification?

    Hi everyone,
    I am very pleased to offer this Ford Focus RS on Pcarmarket. It is with no doubt a very clean and unmolested example with pretty low mileage for its age. All services are up to date with the valve cover gasket just recently replaced and a fresh engine oil change done. This car is ready for its next custodian to be enjoyed or parked in any car collection.
    I remain available for any questions you guys may have about the car so please don't hesitate.
    Happy bidding everyone!
