Introduced for the 2000 model year, the Boxster S offered a more performance-focused experience with a larger 3.2-liter flat-six engine, sport-tuned suspension, and upgraded brakes over the standard Boxster. This 2001 Porsche 986 Boxster S is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Black upholstery with the optional Sport Package. Originally delivered in California, it was later acquired by the first owner’s sibling-in-law out of Nevada and is now being offered for auction showing approximately 33k miles on the odometer.
This Boxster is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a black retractable soft top. As an “S” model, it is distinguished by red-painted brake calipers and dual center-mounted exhaust tips. Additional features include fog lights, side air intakes, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and optional Sport Package-specific 17” Boxster Design wheels. The seller notes oxidation, cracking, and two small punctures on the driver’s side of the soft top’s rear window. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the driver is greeted with black partial leather upholstery and black floor mats bearing Porsche lettering. The optional Sport Package adds a wind deflector, cruise control, a Hi-Fi sound system, CD player, and alarm system. The seller notes the fuel gauge does not display above half full, although it functions accurately once the fuel level drops below that point. The center driver-side cupholder is also reported to need replacement.
Power comes from a mid-mounted 3.2-liter flat-six engine factory-rated at 250 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission. Compared to the standard model, the Boxster S offers more sport-oriented suspension tuning and larger brakes, featuring red-painted four-piston monobloc calipers and cross-drilled discs. The CARFAX report indicates that the vehicle was serviced on May 28, 2024, at 32,063 miles.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “The engine is strong, the transmission is smooth, and the air conditioning is cold. This example also features the original sound system.”

Hi Mark James- These pictures are less than 1 month old. Nothing really has changed. Condition of vehicle also remains unchanged as of 1 month ago. Maybe another 20 miles on the odometer. Final Price .... how much are you thinking? I suppose it would be between $9000 - $16,000

@jhudnall when I bought my first Porsche over 30 years ago, I was almost able to get my dream car (a 928) added to the deal "for free", but my mechanic told me "even a free Porsche is expensive!" Now a 4 Porsche owner, my 928 is much less expensive to maintain than the newer ones! Still, I'd love to give this one a home!
@URS6 My thoughts exactly. Way too much needs to be done for that Buy Now price. A lot of potential.. but potential is expensive on our beloved Porsches.
This is an attractive car, but it needs the IMS upgrade before it is driven, new tires and the rear window (and other nit noids) fixed. Then it will be a $16,000 car, but I was factoring $7,000 for the work and another $2,000 to ship to the EC. It does warrant a good home!

These are a great value. I’ve owned a few of them and have one currently. They are the single best Porsche value. This car will need a clutch in the next 20k so don’t sweat the IMS, you can do it then. 100:1 that if the mechanic is honest with you there will be no indication of imminent failure. Tips can be problematic. Pull the intake baffle under the passenger fender vent and the sound will amaze you. GLWTS

@URS6 Good morning- Cold Start vid uploaded- showing the exhaust. You can see by the oil gauge that it was a cold start.
Right rear quarter panel pic loaded. Two very small - looks like door ding. I had trouble locating it.
Please lmk if you have any other concerns & thank you for looking. Best …
@URS6 of course on video.
Will also upload right rear quarter panel pic
@L1l2zorr thanks for checking. I am assuming no oil samples have ever been taken on the engine? When you have some time, would you post a cold start video that shows the exhaust so we can see if any smoke is present on cold start up? Thank you. Low mileage is attractive, but Porsches and IMS bearings, like to be used.
Also, am I seeing a couple of dent son the right rear quarter panel?
@URS6 -IMS bearing have not been upgraded. Thank you
@URS6 - Thank you for visiting this auction-
Tires: 46/10- So most likely replaced early 2011.
IMS Bearing- I will have an answer for you by end of day.
Another question: it appears as though the tires have cracking on the sidewalls. Are the tires original? Thanks.
Bid in the amount of $2,001
Nice Boxster. Has the IMS bearing been upgraded?
Good Day PCar Community,
Thank you for looking at this Auction. This sweetheart is my brother in law’s baby. But due to medical challenges, he could no longer drive the manual transmission.
I purchased from him to keep her in the family. However, I am soon to be moving overseas.
She runs great, sounds amazing. Everything is original, no mods.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I will try my best to address them.
Thanks again.
