Designated as an official launch vehicle, this 2001 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe was originally delivered to Le Mans racer Jack Griffin in April 2000. The car is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Black interior featuring optional draped leather seats. Pairing a desirable 6-speed manual transmission with its twin-turbocharged Mezger flat-six engine, this early 996 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with approximately 39k miles showing on the odometer.
The 996 Turbo features wider fenders than a contemporary Carrera along with side air intakes, flared rocker panels, unique bumpers, and a fixed rear spoiler with a hydraulic speed-activated wing. This Coupe is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic (L92U) and rides on factory 18” 911 Turbo Twist wheels. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires were mounted approximately 5 years ago and have been driven about 1k miles. Detailed images and a clean CARFAX report are provided in the gallery.
Inside, the driver is greeted with Black upholstery and optional draped leather seating surfaces. Accessories include an Alcantara headliner, power-adjustable seats, a sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise control, a central locking system, and model-designated doorsills.
A twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine delivers up to 415 HP and 415 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes and cross-drilled 330mm discs at each corner. The seller states an ignition lock cylinder was replaced in the summer of 2024, and the CARFAX report shows a total of 14 service history entries.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, and the original delivery letter from Porsche Cars North America to Jack Griffin.
The seller would like you to know: "Thank you for checking out my auction. This vehicle has been meticulously cared for and always garage-kept. I’ve owned it for 25 years, and it’s been maintained to a high standard with all service records available. The car is in excellent concours condition both mechanically and cosmetically, with recent maintenance, done in March 2025. It’s always been driven responsibly and never tracked or abused. This is a great opportunity to own a well-preserved example of a 2000 Turbo, a model year that only had a handful of production units. Please feel free to reach out with any questions—serious bidders only, please."

A 25k mile example sold on bat today for 70,000 plus fees.
Seems to be quite a few nice 996TT available lately both here and BAT. Guess we’re in the space between old used Porsches and not yet collector pieces.
Thanks all! As mentioned this is the second production 996 turbo, hence my thought to price higher with the addition of signature plus mint condition. I chose the price based off of other listings on pca classifieds (40k miles for $78,000) plus premium due to cars history. It’s a near mint car, only selling because I have a turbo 50 on the way, and planning on ST in next month so I don’t have any garage space (good problem to have). I don’t “have” to sell it, but would like if it went off to a new home rather than having to keep it out on my driveway. Thanks!
wow 90K is no joke. Not sure how one would get there but if seller gets it good on him.
@Blubusdrvr I subtracted $25 for what it will cost to buff that off of there.
That’s approaching TurboS pricing. The gap between buyer and seller is growing
90k is bold...
$90k. Lol.
You guys are forgetting the premium for that YouTube guys signature
Ambitious asking price, considering spec/miles/year.
RNM, bummer. $68K seems like a fair deal here. Oh well.

Hello All, to clarify: For the past 25 years, only major work done was alternator in 2021, Key ignition lock cylinder in 2024. Spoiler works perfectly fine, there is absolutely nothing mechanically or cosmetically "broken/damaged/" on the car. For the 2 things we did have done, both were addressed within a week and were taken care of asap. We have looked after this car as if it were our own baby. I am selling because I am taking delivery of my nordic gold turbo 50 years once I am back from my trip, and was planning on selling this for an ST/Touring, as did not make sense to own 2 turbos, (but would be quite fun!) Thanks for all the questions please reach out if you have any more
@_leo000 hello, yes will ask my sister to grab photos as I am out of country for emergency reasons..car is registered and up to date. I had this shoot done with David Coyne (photographer for quail events Monterey) a while back, and have put less than 500 miles on the car since the shoot, evehrjting seen is how it is now, except a current registration sticker :)
@Blubusdrvr Haha, lot of people were going crazy over him at Monterey car week! Big automotive YouTuber/car collector. Have the video of proof of him signing it in the gallery above
He's a big automotive YouTuber ;)
I know who Jack Griffin is but who the hell is James Stradman?? And he signed this car?? Hmmmm…
Is it possible to upload some current outdoor photos? What is the current registration status? It seems like some of the photos are from 2022 and some from 2024.
Great car. Possible to please add some recent service records to the gallery? Thanks!

@prb4t flexible with payment! Completely understand and might be less stress for both if payment comes after I’m back :-)
@marshcroft Hi! Yes I will be back in the states then so that would be soonest, bad timing but I’ll be reachable on here and my private number for any questions!
and to just add to that question, what are the expectations for payment given the 2+ week delay in car availability. Are you expecting payment to be held for those 2+ weeks or pay upon your return?
@ShaadNaikk Just to confirm earliest date to pick up or ship vehicle from winning would be may 5th correct? Good luck with emergency btw fully understand
@tmz1m Hey Thanks for the question. As shown on the order sheet in pic gallery, the car was Originally ordered by Jack to his name. Because of his affiliation with the company, he used to get very early chassis numbers and we were interested once we found out it was one of the first 20 to be produced for the USA market. He had ordered an extra 2 turbo's both with the intent of selling after, one of which we picked up, the other one a close friend of ours. The order was in his name, but we are technically still first owners and was not registered to the DMV under his name. We took delivery of the car with about 32 miles on the odometer, I still have his contact, might be able to reach out to him if you need any more clarification. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks!
Just to clarify the ownership history, Jack was the original titled owner in June 2000, and then you got it from him a few months later? Just trying to clarify if he actually owned it, or the VIN was just assigned to him, and then flowed to you?
@Emerald-45 Hi! Nobody has test driven yet..I do have a lot of Instagram references if interested! :) Will be back May 5th due to emergency last minute trip to India
Bid in the amount of $41,000
Has anyone viewed this Porsche or taken it for a test drive? I sent the seller a email earlier today and he stated he would not be back in the USA until next month.
@AO23 Hi! Yes, so Jack had the allocation, because of his affiliation with the Le Mans racing for Porsche, he had gotten the first couple chassis numbers made for the USA market (believe chassis #1-6). We took delivery from him, (shown in papers in gallery), so we are still the first owners, just had taken delivery from him. Thanks!
So to verify, the original owner- Jack Griffin is the seller and this is a one-owner vehicle?

@Airliner1 Thank you! Have babied it all my life while still enjoying the performance benefits. Only selling because I have a turbo 50 years incoming in a month, hate to let go but would love to stay in touch with the next owner!
An honest and well cared for 996TT. Every angle on these gorgeous speed machines just looks so right. Classic color combo. This one deserves to do well.

Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
@Dirtyfox Of course! Please lmk If you have any more questions. Uploaded pics of keys next to small area of chips, should be up soon!
Bid in the amount of $40,000
@ShaadNaikk Ty for the quick response :)
@Dirtyfox Hello! no PPF, there are some small stone chips on front bumper left side, have taken pics will upload shortly. Thanks! No scratches or cosmetic flaws anywhere else. Thx!
Bid in the amount of $10,210
Hi any PPF if not can you show close ups maybe using your finger/pen to show size of all stones chips/scratches also pics of the underneath plz ty GLWS
@dangramm Hey, the front bumperettes were (to my knowledge) a regulation on very early 996 models. As this was one of the first produced for the USA market (took delivery April 2000), I am guessing it was part of the regulations on my car. Signature under Frunk is from The Stradman (automotive YouTube), he had known about the history of this specific car re. early chassis #, and I thought it would be cool to get that signature there..have video proof of him signing it if you need it! Thanks.
What's the story with the front bumperettes and who's signature is under the Frunk?
@gaiakai Hi, Never had any issues with the gears popping out! The car has been looked after by myself for 25 years now, truly babied, always serviced on specific dates, wash/waxed monthly as well even if not driven. Has always been monitored and taken care of to the best of my ability. I have not done anything with the coolant pipes however I have heard of that issue online (have not experienced personally). Only major work done to car was replacement of the Key ignition lock cylinder, done last summer at Porsche dealer. Thanks!
@Hugihard-J Hey, Rear spoiler works perfectly fine, everything is in near mint condition mechanically, have nearly all service records from past 24+ years since I took delivery in April of 2000. Only major work done to the car was replacement of key ignition lock cylinder, done last summer at a Porsche dealer. Please feel freer to reach out with more questions, thanks!
Bid in the amount of $9,960
Hollow spoke wheels? Rear spoiler operation?
Any issues with second gear popping out? I’m assuming coolant pipes have not been pinned/welded, correct?
