This 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe has undergone comprehensive modifications for dedicated track use, featuring a replacement 3.6-liter flat-six engine rebuilt by Eksten Autoworks and a 6-speed manual transmission, both sourced from a 2002 Carrera. Finished in blue with orange race livery, it wears a GT3-style body kit over Enkei lightweight wheels and features a full roll cage, digital dash, race-prepared interior, Bilstein PSS10 adjustable shocks, upgraded brakes, and more. Used primarily for driver education instruction and select PCA races under current ownership, it is accompanied by extensive service records and two additional sets of wheels and tires. This track-ready Carrera is now being offered for auction out of New York.

Finished in blue with orange-painted competition livery and removable vinyl numbers, this example features a custom GT3-style front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, and fixed rear wing. Additional modifications include tow hooks, hood pins, a rear Lexan window, lowered suspension, and Enkei lightweight wheels fitted with new, unused Hankook racing slicks. Two extra sets of wheels with tires are included in the sale. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report noting moderate damage in February 2015.

The cabin has been stripped for weight reduction and equipped with an orange-painted welded full roll cage, a pair of bucket seats with six-point racing harnesses, a cool suit system, a quick-release Sparco steering hub & steering wheel, Schroth driver safety nets, a Racepak G2 digital dash, and a hard-wired radio with a push-to-talk feature.

Power comes from a 3.6-liter flat-six engine and 6-speed manual transmission sourced from a 2002 Porsche 996 Carrera and installed by Eksten Autoworks of Rochester, New York. Performance upgrades include Bilstein PSS10 adjustable shocks, adjustable toe links, a GT3 brake master cylinder, braided brake lines, a 3" radiator kit, a complete 2002-model wiring harness & ECU, and enhanced cooling and exhaust components. The seller reports an oil and filter change with Motul 8100 5W-40 synthetic oil and installation of Pagid brake pads in May 2025. Build and service documentation is included in the gallery.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This car is fast, safe, and almost new throughout. Please review all the receipts for specifics.  This recent investment of over $30,000 was used to facilitate many years of track driving for me.  Unfortunately, a personal situation has ended my driving career, so someone else will enjoy this great car. It is perfectly set up by expert mechanics, utterly safe and reliable, just a great ride.  The car is always stored in my climate-controlled shop in the off-season, and always transported in my enclosed custom trailer.  Most of my driving was as a Certified Porsche DE instructor; I did do a few Club races as well.”

    @Lundclan So very true.....

  • Lundclan (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

This is actually a remarkable car as I have one quite similar. For me, the fun and reliability has been, well remarkable. She has been a workhorse at the track and we have had a lot of fun together. She made me a much better driver and she can lay down respectable times for a fraction of the cost of a Cup car or a new, high powered P-Car. I have recently tracked a new GT3 and a new GT4RS. Sublime, beautiful, crazy expensive, and driving one is like cheating. Those cars make OK drivers look like experts. If money were no option believe me I would own and track the snot out of those cars. But money is an option. The king of budget racing/tracking may be a Miata and they can be great but they are no substitute for a rear engine Porsche. My 996 and I often swat them like flies. 1.5 yrs ago I was on the very of putting a Miata on the podium at Daytona in a 14 hrs race but lost the driveshaft at the 13th hour so I have driven a good Miata in anger and with some success. The Miata was fun and all but the Porsche was love.

@afrankel yes, both sets of extra wheels and tires are included as described. No the trailer is not......it will be sold after the car separately.

  • afrankel (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

Can you confirm that the wheels are included in the requested sale price, and whether the trailer would also be included?

@mdh264 with the much improved suspension, race slicks, and the cage stiffened chassis, the paid race brake pads, etc. the speed and safety differences are remarkable. I suspect you would be amazed.

  • mdh264 (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

I know this would be completely anecdotal - but wondering if you can compare this car with the modifications and weight savings to a stock 996 on the track? I have a stock 996 that I’ve tracked a few times and wondering roughly how different / faster this would be. Thanks in advance!

  • Speedwayinvest (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

    Current logbook?

  • CarreraKB (seller) 1 week, 5 daysago

@Raceman The car is better than I am, It is absolutely competitive , and all systems are essentially new and ready to go.

  • Raceman (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

Was the car competitive in the PCA races? What does it need NOW to go racing? Thanks, Mike E

Very nice car. Had I not just bought something else this would be high on my list. GLWS!

  • CarreraKB (seller) 2 weeksago

@911Brez Yes, it is an actual cable throttle, and yes PCA classifies this as I stock.

  • 911Brez (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

Is it E gas or did you set it up for cable throttle? Would this run as a stock “I” car with PCA ?

  • CarreraKB (seller) 2 weeksago

@jeffreywyue46m3 This is the second Porsche I've owned with this option, they call it the factory Aero package.

  • jeffreywyue46m3 (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

    Sorry such a mystery

  • jeffreywyue46m3 (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

What kind of body kit? Fiberglass? Factory from Porsche ? Suck mystery to source this kit but makes the 996 look like a super car

  • CarreraKB (seller) 2 weeksago

@ByardT As an alternative, I have the original glass side windows, they could be used as is or to make plexi templets.

  • CarreraKB (seller) 2 weeksago

@ByardT I don't have plexi windows for the sides, my trailer is enclosed.

  • ByardT (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

Thanks- are there plexiglass window inserts for this car? I have an open trailer.

  • CarreraKB (seller) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

My trusted shop just completed a full comprehensive service , They also built the car. A receipts are posted here on Pcarmarket. I would consider that a PPI, unless the buyer would prefer to have their own done. The work was done at Ekstens Autoworks, Rochester, NY. If you want contact info please send me a message through this site.

  • ByardT (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

Has a PPI been completed on this car? Also where was it serviced? Thanks in advance.

@Lundclan Very well said, you have described my car and the driving experience perfectly.

  • Lundclan (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 2 daysago

The 1999 body is the lightest of the 996s. The 2002+ 3.6L is the better engine. This car is done right. I have a similar one. Hard to find something more fun and reliable for the money in the PCar realm. These are gems for tracking for a fraction of the price and maintenance of the new, fancier stuff and Frankly a blast to drive. This is for someone who loves to drive and do so where the driver is in command and not the nannies. GLWTA!

  • CarreraKB (seller) 2 weeks, 3 daysago

It is a 1999 body, Pcarmarket is correcting the typo. Appologies for the mistake.

  • Eredding1477 2 weeks, 3 daysago

    @CarreraKB looks more like a 1999 996 body than 2019 body ...

  • CarreraKB (seller) 2 weeks, 3 daysago

@Eredding1477 , the drivetrain , suspension, harness, eco, etc are all 2002. My previous car( the 2002) was damaged when a tire blew , so we found this 2019 body with a blown engine and made the swap. Its been a perfect car for me.

  • Eredding1477 2 weeks, 3 daysago

    Is it 1999 or 2003 996?
