Introduced as the second-generation M3, the E36 BMW M3 continued the model’s legacy by striking a balance between motorsport performance, refined luxury, and everyday drivability. This 1999 convertible example is powered by a 3.2-liter inline-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and is finished in Estoril Blue over a rare Magma Nappa leather interior. It features a power-retractable soft top, 17” M Double Spoke wheels, cruise control, air conditioning, AM/FM stereo with cassette, and more. This M3 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey.
The E36 M3 can be differentiated from a standard 3-Series by its revised front and rear bumpers, side skirts, wing mirrors, and M3 badging on the side moldings and trunk lid. This example is finished in Estoril Blue (335) and features a power-retractable black soft top, fog lights, body-color mirror caps, and dual exhaust outlets. It rides on 17” M Double Spoke wheels wrapped in new tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with an accident-free CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in seldom-seen Magma Nappa leather and features front sport seats accented by tri-color M stitching. Interior appointments include a leather-wrapped M steering wheel, a black dashboard and trim, power windows and mirrors, cruise control, air conditioning, and an AM/FM stereo with cassette functionality. The seller notes that the leather upholstery was recently detailed and conditioned, and all gauges and electronics are fully functional. A potential mileage inconsistency is indicated on the CARFAX report, which the seller attributes to a possible clerical error.
Power comes from a 3.2-liter S52 inline-six engine generating a factory-rated 240 HP and 236 lb-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The chassis is equipped with a sport-tuned suspension, including MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link (Z-axle) rear setup, complemented by four-wheel disc brakes and M-tuned components. Notable service history reported by the seller includes a fuel sending unit replacement at 24k miles in 2004, full fluid flushes at 28k and 45k miles, serpentine belt replacement in 2013, a valve cover gasket replacement in 2022, and a complete brake and suspension refresh in 2023, which included new front and rear brakes, front struts, and rear shocks. Additionally, service in preparation for the sale is said to include the following:
This sale will include the original owner's manuals, a set of all-weather floor mats, a car cover, and a hard-wired battery tender.
The seller would like you to know: “We are happy to present this beautiful and Iconic E36 M3. This car presents very well and is ready for you to drop the top and enjoy. The Carfax does show a mileage discrepancy, which is apparent based on the difference, that one of the entries at a service was inputted wrong.”

Thank you everyone who participated!
@stealthssfc I guarantee there is nothing fishy with this car only with the people that input the mileage in their system. We have been in contact with these places, but unfortunately, they are claiming due to privacy cannot send us what was revised in their system.
There are more mileage inconsistencies than just the two major jumps. Right before than it goes back around 400 miles two separate times, then jumps up the 12k miles, then back down. Something fishy happened. No way 4 separate locations mistyped at different times.

@thortlehaus believe me, we definitely understand and had the same concerns when we acquired the car. The one thing that gave us confidence was realistically why would somebody go through the trouble of turning back mileage such a small amount. Also, after a very meticulous pre-purchase inspection. We were very confident. The current mileage is correct based on all the entries before and after the ones that were not put into the system correctly.
good question" stockman", I also was wondering about the mileage issue as there are not one but two entries from different locations and times that show a mileage issue on the carfax

Welcome to the final hours of our auction of this beautiful M3. We are hear to the hammer drops to answer any and all questions. Good Luck!
@stockman yes sir. There were a couple of services that the wrong mileage was imputed. It is almost impossible to get Carfax to correct these errors. If you look at the entries before and after and all the other entries, it is pretty clear this was a mistake. Hope that seems to make sense. In one of them there is a Thousand mile discrepancy.
Any info on the mileage rollback?
