Conceived as a modern homage to the Shelby Cobra, the original Viper RT/10 was purpose-built with minimal electronic driver aids and powered by a formidable 8.0-liter V10 engine developed in collaboration with then-Chrysler subsidiary Lamborghini. This 1994 example is finished in black over a grey leather interior and comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, a rear spoiler, side-exit exhaust outlets, 18” BBS wheels, a cassette stereo, and more. Showing just over 17k miles on the odometer, this Viper is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Arizona.
The first-generation Viper was designed in-house by Chrysler’s Tom Gale and constructed using composite body panels mounted over a tubular steel space-frame chassis. This example is finished in black and has recently received a wet sanding treatment. Exterior details include a large front grille, a clamshell hood, fog lights, fender louvers ahead of the doors, side-exit exhaust outlets, and a rear spoiler. It rides on aftermarket 18" BBS wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. While tread depth is adequate, the seller notes signs of dry rot due to age and recommends replacement for regular use. Cosmetic modifications under prior ownership include custom flame graphics on the hood and color-matched finishes on the mirrors, spoiler, and side pipes. Although some overspray is visible up close, the seller notes the recent wet sanding has improved its appearance, and the paint exhibits a navy-blue metallic flake under direct light. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The open-top cockpit features two manually adjustable bucket seats upholstered in gray leather with a matching dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include air conditioning, headrest-mounted speakers, a glove box, a 12-volt outlet, a speaker system, and a suite of analog instrumentation. The seller notes the original seats are free from tears or fading, and the leather-wrapped steering wheel displays no signs of sun damage. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 8.0-liter V10 engine, which delivers a factory-rated 400 HP and 465 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It features power steering, independent suspension, and ventilated disc brakes at all four corners. Notable services under current ownership have included a new fuel pump and fluid changes, completed by the seller at their restoration shop in Phoenix, Arizona.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for viewing this auction. This Viper was rarely driven in 30+ years and the 17k original miles represent this. This is an immediate startup, "take it and go" car. With new tires, this car would have no problem being driven on a road trip through any states. There are no mechanical mods, minimal to no rust, and a near mint interior. Exterior-wise, it could use some touch up paint work to make up for the previous owners paint job. But cosmetics never bothered me because a 8.0L V10 and 6Speed is what makes this car a Viper, not the cosmetic flaws. The silver BBS wheels go beautifully with this dark paint. I have kept this car in my climate controlled showroom in Phoenix, Arizona. It was just wet sanded as well. The next owner will love this vehicle like I have.”
