The final evolution of Porsche’s iconic V8-powered grand touring car, the 928 GTS debuted for the 1992 model year, featuring flared rear fenders, a body-colored spoiler, 17” Cup wheels, larger front brakes, and a new 5.4-liter V8 engine rated at 345 HP. This 1993 example is one of 190 GTS models produced for the U.S. during the model year, and among only 21 factory-equipped with an automatic transmission. It comes finished in Guards Red over a Black leather interior and benefits from over $45k invested over the past several years including cosmetic refurbishment, a major engine-out service, upgraded headers and exhaust, a new CSF radiator, 964 Turbo front rotors, new fluids and filters, differential service, A/C service, dry ice cleaning, and much more. Showing approximately 76k miles on the odometer, this rare 928 GTS is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
Compared to other late-model 928s, the GTS version can be distinguished by its wider rear fenders, aero mirrors, twin exhaust tips, a body-colored rear spoiler, and a wraparound taillight bar. This example is finished in Guards Red and has been recently refurbished with a new OE front bumper cover, door and window moldings, and weatherstripping. The front bumper, fenders, doors, and roof were refinished for cosmetic purposes, and the undercarriage was professionally cleaned with dry ice. Equipment includes pop-up headlights, headlamp washers, integrated fog lights, painted body moldings, an electric sunroof, a rear window wiper, and 17” Cup wheels with new Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 tires mounted in 2023. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report noting an accident in September 2008.
The four-seater interior is appointed with black leather upholstery and matching carpets. Accessories include power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, GTS-logo door sills, automatic climate control, rear seat air conditioning, rear sun visors, a central locking system, an onboard computer, an aftermarket head unit, and a Porsche CD changer. The steering wheel was recently reupholstered with custom red stitching, and custom black floor mats with red edging have been installed. The air conditioning system has been serviced, the blower motor has been replaced, and a new OE fuse panel has been installed. The seller adds that the tire pressure warning light appears intermittently as the TPMS sensors are not installed in the wheels.
The 5.4-liter M28/49 V8 DOHC engine includes four valves per cylinder and was factory-rated at 345 HP and 369 lb.-ft of torque. A 4-speed automatic transaxle sends power to the rear wheels. A major engine-out service has been performed, including new powder-coated intake manifolds and valve covers, a new timing belt, water pump, tensioners, valve cover gaskets, distributor components, spark plugs, knock and cam sensors, a thermostat, cam seals, cylinder head plugs, fuel injectors, and wiring. The engine has been upgraded with a new CSF radiator and 928 Motorsports long-tube headers and exhaust. Other recent work included new steering rack boots and bushings, a four-wheel alignment, transmission and brake fluid flushes, a coolant flush, differential service, new 964 Turbo front brake rotors, Hawk Street brake pads, a new battery, and an oil service. In July 2025, the vehicle underwent comprehensive diagnostics and repairs totaling $9,125, which included HVAC system service, alternator belt replacement, replacement of the fuse box and blower motor, repairs to lighting and wiring, installation of a new engine bay seal, a multipoint inspection, and minor customer-supplied part installations. Documentation is provided in the gallery.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a car cover, a battery trickle charger, a new OE hood insulation pad, recent service documentation, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Very clean example of the fantastic, rare GTS model. Fully gone through to ensure correct and trouble-free operation. The entire chassis was dry ice cleaned. 5.4L V8 sounds incredible with the 928 Motorsports full exhaust. No expense spared to give this car the love it deserves. Strong engine - runs and drives very well.”

@kekoaalona Yes compression was checked ok and output shaft play.
Seller, very nice example of a 928 GTS...black interior appears to be in great condition. Forgive me, I didn't dive in detail of your service records.. that said, has cylinder compression tests and/or valve leak down checks been performed? Also, check end play of output shaft tolerances at transmission torque converter merge?
Thank you.

@Dozer To my knowledge panels are original with exception of the front bumper to which my body shop sourced an OE part from Porsche Germany.
Where was the damage from the accident? Are all of the panels original?

Seconding the ask for a driving video even if not the most amazing...
@bunk Nothing left but to enjoy.
Thanks for posting all the invoices. Living in Naples, I know 2 of the 3 shops that you used for the ton of updates and repairs that you made to this car and they are are both first rate choices. Aside from the unnecessary tpms fix, is there anything left to do on this beauty?
Bid in the amount of $11,178
Bid in the amount of $10,928
Thank you for sharing the invoice from Porsche of Naples. That covers about $9,200 of the $45K in repairs mentioned. Please provide invoices covering the remaining $34k+ in mentioned repairs (Superior Autohaus + ??). The Q&A in the 2022 sale of this car when you bought it on BaT talk about some things that are not covered by the Porsche of Naples invoice. This documentation may help your auction, since the bidding so far is quite careful...
worf928....Thank you for the TPMS sensors info update...very interesting!!!!
@XLR82XS "...as the TPMS sensors are not installed in the wheels..."
This statement in the summary is incorrect. Undercarriage pictures clearly show the "sensors" installed in the wheel barrels. They are, however, missing their black plastic protective covers.
Folks should not assume that anything they know about 21st Century TPMS applies to 928s. It doesn't.
Most '90+ 928 TPMS systems are bypassed.
The warning described as present in the summary is due to the system not being correctly bypassed.
@seller - apols I didn’t see it. I just looked and don’t see it
@Ram3k It should be available in the gallery.
Beautiful 928, and it seems like it’s received quite a bit of attention.
Would you mind posting the inspection done in July ?
Thx and GLWTA
@bunk Superior Autohaus and Porsche Naples classic performed the work. Invoices are available. Inspection was performed 7/23/25 during the recent fuse block, blower motor, A/C service, and tail light harness replacement. Everything else is order.
Three questions: Would you please identify the shop(s) that you used for the refurbishment work? And would you make the refurbishment invoices available? Would you allow a PPI by a Naples Porsche expert? Thank you

@Artzco I have no info on the 2008 incident and the prior owner did not either. There is no structural damage noted during the refurbishment. I'd image is was purely cosmetic.
Unless I missed it, I saw no mention of the 2008 accident. Thanks.

I have a 92 ROW GTS, fantastic automobile.

@jorruss Getting a good quality driving video without holding a phone while operating is going to be an issue. That and the rainy month here in S. FL can pose a challenge. This one doesn't get driven in foul weather.
That said it could be in the cards. It does sound AMAZING.
I predict that, being missing, it will be an IRK, to non old school bidders...hope they will be respectfull about it. I just replaced the tires on my 2009 Carrera S at my local America's Tire shop, they replaced the sensors, free of charge. My 2024 MACAN has them, however, my 1993 Carrera C2 CAB does not. Been a Porsche customer for 50 years and think the sensors are a waste of time and money.
Fantastic car! I know many love to hate the automatics in these, but they drive very well. Any plans to post a driving video? I think I can speak for everyone here - We want to hear that exhaust!
@charliek911 Thanks. They were bypassed under recommendation. Not really needed for us old school enthusiasts who check pressure regularly.
Awesome automobile...shame the tire pressure sensors were not replaced...so much else was...GLWTA...
