Unveiled as a prototype at the 1992 Geneva Auto Show, the special-edition Porsche 964 Turbo S Leichtbau (Lightweight) was developed by Porsche test driver and engineer Roland Kussamaulat, using experience gained from the IMSA Supercar Championship. It shares a similar lightweight design with the contemporary Carrera RS, which saves 419 lbs. compared to a standard 911 Turbo, and features larger brakes, uprated suspension, and a reworked 3.3-liter turbocharged flat-six engine that produces 380 HP. This Speed Yellow example is one of only 86 built in total. Originally delivered to a private owner in Germany, the car changed hands between two subsequent owners in France and was recently serviced by a marque specialist in February 2025. One of the rarest and most sought-after air-cooled Porsches ever made, this 964 Turbo S Lightweight is now being offered for auction out of Monaco with approximately 77k kilometers or 48k miles showing on the odometer.

The Turbo S differs from a standard 964 Turbo with a lightweight design, including carbon fiber-reinforced composite for the rear decklid and luggage compartment cover. It features front brake cooling ducts in place of fog lights, air intake scoops on the rear quarter panels, a single-piece body-colored whale tail rear spoiler, thin-gauge glass windows, red brake calipers, and 18” Speedline three-piece wheels. This example is finished in the model’s debut color of Speed Yellow. The seller notes that a partial respray was performed on the passenger door, and a small area of the left fender was previously repainted. Detailed images and paint meter readings are provided in the gallery.

Like the Carrera RS, the lightweight interior of the Turbo S comes without sound deadening material, air conditioning, airbags, central locking, power windows, or rear seats. This example features fixed-back Recaro bucket seats in black leather with contrasting grey and yellow leather inserts and a matching three-spoke leather steering wheel. Accessories include a heater, a Becker Mexico cassette stereo, and yellow seatbelts.

The Turbo S is powered by a 3.3-liter Type M30/69 flat-six, a reworked version of the standard 911 Turbo’s engine featuring modified intake runners and camshafts, optimized fuel injection and ignition timing, and a maximum turbocharger boost pressure of 1.0 bar. It delivers up to 380 HP and 361 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle with a lightweight flywheel and a limited-slip differential. The Turbo S comes factory-equipped with the M030 European Sport Suspension package, which provides a lowered ride height and stiffer springs, struts, shocks, and anti-roll bars. It derives stopping power from “Big Red” 4-piston brakes and cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The seller notes a major service was completed by a marque specialist in Monaco in February 2025, which included new spark plugs.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a car cover, a battery trickle charger, and a clean title.

That’s a mighty big gap from the last offer. Just sayin, also it’s not a 1994 3.6

Seems like a dumb question since I see a $ sign but I'm new to this site. With it being in Monaco, is the bidding in US Dollars?

  • MCC (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@Toster05 yes we have it. Yes we have the sticker for the hood.

  • MCC (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

Dear cmack10, correct the car was spec’ed and delivered with model designation delete, option 498. The previous owner of the car who was French added the OEM « turbo S » lettering. Can easily be removed to march the option 498.

    Hello
It mentions that the the option of "entfall modellbezeichnung (498)" was selected originally. Does this mean the badge "Turbo S" was added during previous ownership?

@MCC - do you have a 4 page supplement to owners manual that should be in a little pouch on back page of manual book? Also do you have data sticker under the hood (looks like its absent from maintenance book) Thank you.

  • MCC (seller) 1 week, 4 daysago

Dear Phicks01, it is very easy to register in the US as its more than 25 years old of age. Yes we have done it many times with comparable models.

  • Phicks01 (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

Thanks for the info MCC. How hard is it to get registered in the US? Do you have experience with that?

  • 935 2 weeksago

Just imagine how much lighter this could have been w/o the stereo! Cheers lol,
    Absolutely stunning

  • MCC (seller) 2 weeksago

Amazing story. Yes it was delivered new to an owner in Bonn! The car is in our showroom in Monaco and can be inspected and viewed. We can even take it for a spin!

  • PopeOfRS (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

@MCC - thanks for getting back to me on the.
I think this was my car ages ago if the first owner was a guy running a bakery chain in BONN / GERMANY.
    BÄCKEREI LUBIG.
I would love to buy the car back.
Is it possible to come to MC to inspect it personally ???

  • MCC (seller) 2 weeksago

@PopeOfRS Hello and thank you for your comment. The car has been sold privately between the last owners. The number plate frame of H&S has nothing to do with the selling.
The car is French registered and the taxes are paid on the car. The car can be registered in any EU countries without have to pay any taxes and vat. By the way if a car is registered in Monaco or France it is exactly the same thing tax and vat wise.

  • PopeOfRS (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

Can get to know who sold the car in the past ?
I see the H & S numberplate Frames so I Imagine it was sold by them ?

Important time as a EU citizen is the tax Status. Is it French or MC registered and tax free to any other EU countries ?

  • MCC (seller) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

The 25% tariffs don’t apply to vehicles over 25 years of age. The car is in majority first paint appart from a touch up on one of the rear fenders and on one of the doors. For cosmetic reasons. Small dings from an underground parking

  • jankoum 2 weeks, 1 dayago

hello. do you know if 25% tariffs will need to be paid on this car? also, do you know what was the reason for the respray/repaint?

  • willh101 2 weeks, 1 dayago

    My God...it's beautiful.

  • MCC (seller) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

If you ship it by container it takes 3 to 4 weeks and costs about 6k. If you ship it with air freight (we recommend) it takes a week and costs about 12 to 16k

  • Mfoliveira615 2 weeks, 1 dayago

@MCC what is the cost ?

  • MCC (seller) 2 weeks, 2 daysago

Hello, the process is very easy and straightforward as the car is over 25 years of age. We just need to formally de register it here in Monaco and have it sent to you on board and aircraft. Process takes less than a week from door to door.

  • Phicks01 (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 2 daysago

My dream car. What would the process be to ship to the US

  • ChadGee (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

  • MCC (seller) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

@group911 Doors are in aluminum !

  • MCC (seller) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

Could you possibly lift the cushion off the seat bottoms for pictures?
    Thanks

  • group911 (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

Can you confirm engine and transmission serial and type numbers?

  • Isringhausen (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

This is one of the best limited production Porsche Exclusive projects. The original production was supposed to be 25 to 50 units but they pushed it to 86 because of the high demand. It received the Carrera RS lightening treatment and also received more horsepower. It really doesn’t get much better than this! Good luck to the seller
