Representing the second generation of Volkswagen’s iconic hot hatch, this 1991 Volkswagen GTI Mk2 has been comprehensively refurbished as part of a restoration project. It is powered by a rebuilt 8-valve inline-four engine equipped with an upgraded camshaft, intake, exhaust, and performance chip, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Refinished in white over a black interior, it features wide fender flares, 15” FelgenWerks wheels, an aftermarket head unit, and more. This meticulously restored Mk2 GTI is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey.
During its comprehensive restoration, this example was refinished in white, including the engine bay and door jambs. Exterior details include GTI-specific flared fenders, a black and red-accented grille, quad round headlights, integrated fog lights, black bumpers, a front spoiler, and a single exhaust outlet. It rides on 15” FelgenWerks multi-piece wheels wrapped in Hankook Ventus V2 concept2 tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior features sport bucket seats upholstered in gray cloth with red and gray diagonal-striped inserts and patterned bolsters. Matching fabric extends to the rear bench and door panels, with red piping accenting the trim throughout the cabin. Amenities include a Momo steering wheel, a custom shift boot and emergency brake cover, and an aftermarket head unit. The rubber sunroof seals were replaced during the restoration. The seller notes the gauge cluster was replaced and the tachometer is currently inoperative, though an additional cluster is included in the sale.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter eight-valve inline-four engine equipped with an upgraded camshaft, intake, exhaust, and performance chip. The engine bay was stripped and resealed during the restoration, and services included a new alternator, a new clutch, and new axles. The front wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transmission. The suspension setup consists of MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam in the rear, both equipped with coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers. Braking is facilitated by disc brakes at all four corners, and steering is managed by a power-assisted rack-and-pinion system. The seller reports the vehicle has undergone a comprehensive mechanical overhaul, with service records and before-and-after photos included in the sale.
This sale will include a spare tire, an extra gauge cluster, some documentation, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Any extra photos and questions you may have, I will answer to the best of my ability. I bought the car to have it redone for my wife. I have the builder's direct contact, which he is also one of the biggest Volkswagen parts connections in the tri-state area. Feel free to ask away!”

@125collins i just spent $1300 last week getting the ac fixed. the only thing that will need to be addressed is the foam that directs the air just needs to be replaced. Hodis Performance in Old Bridge NJ did the AC work if youd like to call him to confirm work done. he also replaced the motor mounts and trans mount as well.
Does the a/c work well? I'm in Florida.
