This 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera Coupe has undergone a comprehensive, no-expense-spared custom build spanning more than two years, highlighted by a complete refinish in blue with a sunroof deletion and widened body panels, a full drivetrain overhaul from Rothsport Racing, and a bespoke interior by DJ Designs. Featuring a custom-built 4.0-liter air-cooled flat-six incorporating Mahle pistons, custom Nicasil-coated cylinders, and a MoTeC M84 engine management system, the powertrain is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a billet short-shifter assembly. Additional upgrades include extensive chassis seam welding, RS sway bars, adjustable JRZ coilover suspension, 15" Brembo brakes, a titanium exhaust system, and much more. The body was fitted with lightweight carbon fiber panels, RS-style brake ducts, aero mirrors, and custom Augment three-piece wheels, while the cabin received full blue leather upholstery with gold accents, custom Recaro carbon fiber racing seats, a Sparc Industries steering wheel, redesigned VDO gauges, custom pedals, and Porsche Classic Communication Management with Apple CarPlay integration. Excluding the cost of the original vehicle, over $622k was invested in this meticulous transformation. Driven approximately 700 miles since its completion, this one-of-a-kind 964 is a lifelong California car now offered for auction with under 34k miles showing on the odometer.
The body features custom-fabricated, widened carbon fiber panels, including the front bumper, lower front splitter, front fenders, rocker panels, rear quarter panels, and rear bumper. A sunroof delete was also performed, followed by a professional refinish in blue. Details include upgraded headlights, RS-style front air ducts, a custom front bumper design with enhanced cooling, aero mirrors, and silver brake calipers with red Brembo lettering beneath satin gold-finished 18” Augment three-piece wheels. Like-new Toyo Proxes R888 tires are mounted, measuring 235mm wide at the front and 305mm at the rear. Additionally, a satin gold-themed Porsche crest has been fitted, and the turn signals, fog lights, and taillights have been tinted. Documentation of the build is provided in the gallery, along with a collection of additional images and a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the scanned, rendered, and reupholstered cabin was completely crafted by DJ Designs and is said to have received the 2023 SEMA Auto Metal Direct Interior of the Year Award. The interior is enveloped in extensive blue leather and suede upholstery, complemented by gold accents, carbon fiber elements, and deviated stitching. Features include a Sparc Industries steering wheel, custom Recaro carbon fiber bucket seats with bespoke seat centers, revamped VDO instrumentation, a gold bezel for the central tachometer, a rear luggage compartment, custom pedals, electronic air conditioning, and Porsche Classic Communication Management with Apple CarPlay integration.
Power comes from a custom-built 4.0-liter flat-six engine by Rothsport Racing, reportedly producing 425 HP at 7,800 RPM and managed by a MoTeC M84 engine management system. The build includes a 4.0-liter crankshaft, RS 4.0 countershaft set, Mahle pistons, and custom cylinders with Nicasil coating. The engine is topped with new 3.8-liter cylinder heads featuring 53mm intake and 41.5mm stainless exhaust valves, Elgin valve springs, titanium retainers, and a new camshaft set. Supporting systems include a 964 gasket set, GT3 oil pump, GT3 rod bearings, and a 993TT engine fan. Additional details include RS engine mounts, new engine-to-body seals, and a custom engine wiring harness with the ECU mounted and integrated accordingly. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transmission and a custom shifter setup featuring a billet short shifter assembly, Goldenrod main shift rod, forward shift rod with rod ends, shift tube bushings, and CV joint hardware. Chassis modifications were performed to accommodate the upgraded linkage and included extensive seam welding for reinforcement. Additional upgrades include a titanium exhaust system, urethane steering rack mount, 993 bump-steer outer tie rods, GT2/RSR inner tie rods, RS sway bars, adjustable JRZ coilover suspension, and 15” six-piston Brembo brake calipers. Extensive build documentation is available in the gallery.
This sale will include a clean title.

@SpartyRob84 Guntherwerks as well…I understand your last point and I have no doubt that if someone drove brand named cars and this back to back they would look at it as the bargain it is. 👍
@Ro_JaBoy I hear you, and I get your point. It’s a beautiful car. I just think that for $675k a 964 either needs to have Kaege or Singer on it, or be sold to a very discerning buyer who has seen the car first hand and knows the specific details regarding every facet of the build.
@SpartyRob84 Totally disagree with this… I’m not sure what car you are looking at.
Comparable is relative. Someone buys Volks and someone buys Rotas…they’re “comparable” but there’s a reason why they both exist. This car isn’t for those wanting to settle…custom carbon one-off panels, custom one-off interior and the motor done by the best…
This car needs to go to some high-end auction house to even have a chance at getting what the seller expects. I think one could buy a mule for $60-$80k, put $250k into it and have something comparable.

Ro_JaBoy Apologize if I under estimated - My interiors are "RAW" limited $$$. I Invest in fabrication. My builds will displayed shortly under the name "RAW Outlaw" Thanks for pushing this market forward with an excellent design.
Just uploaded a picture from this Summer of this car with some of the other Porsches (and Jaguar E-Type sold for the owner) in the collection. The owner is a P-Car enthusiast and know that any future owner will appreciate how special this car is.

@pcaruser1...I don't have copies of a dyno sheet or it being weighed, so I don't want to say those as facts. Rothsport is the man when it comes to Porsche motors and imagine the motor was either dyno'd by him or he just knows what the specs of the motor produce and that's where that number came from. I don't know if the car was weighed for that number to be used or whether that's a guess.
@wuliangye...thanks for the comment. The listing states the dollar number of invoices provided to Pcarmarket from the build. Everything was done by the top people in their respective craft with the intent of building the best 964 that exists.

I build Outlaws for a hobby and recognize the labor of love that goes into these projects. The market is slowly taking hold of builds with significant fabrication ! I currently have 5 different designs that represent the "Outlaw" market. Thanking "Singer" for their dedication and investment to building this market to multi-million dollar levels is opening the door for others to succeed !! I would estimate this build is over $300,000 invested. without the Donor !!
dry weight was 2700lbs? and dyno sheet shows 425hp?
Bid in the amount of $190,000
What a massive project! The amount of work done here is insane. The interior won’t appeal to some, but the exterior and overall quality of the work looks outstanding. Perhaps 75-80% of a Singer. Hope you can sell at a decent price, but I’m afraid you won’t get what you’ve put into this project.
Less than 24 hours to go and am hopeful we can find a new owner for this truly one of a kind 964. Thanks to all those have bid and asked questions already. Here if you need anything else leading up to the end tomorrow.

Thanks @pcarmarket. As a reminder to those joining us now. Here's a link to a 30 minute video that covers (almost) everything you'd want to know about this car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LqY1bHnstQ&t=9s. I'd also recommend you Google "Jeff Gamroth" as he's known as the best of the best in the Porsche world.

For those interested, here was a video from SEMA of Allen Bischofberger explaining some of the car. You can also Google his name to see more content including photos and videos of the car in various lighting to see the depth of the paint and interior color. Thanks for all the inquiries, bids and feedback.

Appreciate it, Justin. This would look great with the rest of your collection. :D
The car doesn’t have under panels. It was seam sealed and painted.
Beautiful car and the interior is amazing.
I’ve purchased from this seller before. Straight shooter, honest, fairly and accurately represented the car I purchased. Transaction was super smooth. Deal in confidence.
Bid in the amount of $150,000
The driving video looks great, but we don't all live in rain-free Southern California! I asked because I didn’t see the under-tray panels in the photos. Were they removed for photography, or is the car offered without them?
Also, is the underside painted only, or was seam-sealing and undercoating applied after the seam welding?
Wow. How do you even value a car like this? Truly a one off . So custom. Made by a guy who doesn't usually do Porsches. Seems like you would spend all your time at Porsche meets explaining to other P guys how this is not a Singer but maybe as good or better than a Singer....
Bid in the amount of $135,000
One word: INCREDIBLE!!!
It uses the Classic Retrofit electric air conditioning system with two condensers and high performance evaporator. The heater is not retained.
Bid in the amount of $125,000
Which electric AC unit did you use? Is there heat?

The interior is unique and of course when you do things that aren't run of the mill, you'll find people that don't appreciate it. That's certainly been the strong minority of people in my experience and my opinion is that it's the nicest interior I've ever seen on any car. Also note, the photos were done in a studio (which helps to show condition) but also brightens the interior a bit. When you're in the car, the interior colors are slightly more muted.
This car wasn't built for shows...it just happened to be completed by SEMA 2023 and showcased. It was built to be (among) the nicest 964 Porsches in the world and a badass street car. It's a great driver and meant to be driven. If you watch the Autotopia video, which I would hope any serious prospective buyer that wants to learn about the car would do, you'll see that this is a driver's car. It was driven from Northern California to Southern California.
Exterior is gorgeous, interior... looks like it from a 90's cruise ship or motor coach.
This car is absolute perfection
Looks like I need a better job. GLWS!
Looking through the photos it was obvious that this car was built for a show before I even read the comments. Will the underbody panels come with the car?
This is right up there with Singer & Gunther in terms of build quality and performance. What an incredible build, hope whoever takes this home drives the hell out of it!
Bid in the amount of $100,000
Wouldn’t be hard to fix this, the exterior is pretty nice so just gut the interior, throw an RS carpet kit, RS door cards, & a couple of pole positions in and it’s ready to go!
Bid in the amount of $64,964
FYI. It was referenced in the video about how clean the car was before starting the project. You can see for yourself from a for sale listing of the car from when purchased: https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1304002/1990-porsche-964-for-sale-in-marina-del-rey-california-90292
@dougmckee...Appreciate your comment and insight. I've always been a fan of subtle details on cars and appreciate the builder must be too. Every time you look at the car you see something new that's unique that you hadn't seen before...it's a work of art.
@JJensen...There have been about 700 miles added since the completion of the build. As referenced in the video, the car was driven to some events in Monterrey after completion and then to Los Angeles from Northern California for the video. The car has resided in Southern California since and is in the owner's collection of cars, driven sparingly.
Please include the number of miles driven after the build, thank you
this is the best 911 ive ever seen , singer could learn from this. i cant believe the design and execution. i have owned 60 plus porsches , i attend 10 car shows a year....... this car is perfection. i wont be able to bid high enough to acquire this gem . the new owner will have the best 911 on the planet, congratulations to the current owner and the new owner. wow it sets a new standard on the 911 reimagined theme.
Welcome to the auction of this special, one-off 964. We recently sold the owner's E-Type UK Jaguar E-Type and now am listing this vehicle for him. It was finished and featured at the 2023 SEMA Show where it was one of the Top 12 vehicles in the Builder's Showcase and won the Interior of the Year award as mentioned in the listing. The interior is the nicest I have ever seen in ANY car. There is a lot of press on this car from it's debut and since then has been in the owner's collection. A video with the builder and Autotopia that gives a ton of details is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LqY1bHnstQ
