Introduced in 1987 with redesigned aerodynamic bodywork and a new 5.0-liter DOHC V8 engine, the 928 S4 signified a major evolution of Porsche’s 928 grand touring car. This launch-year example is finished in Grand Prix White over a Lipstick Red leather interior and features a 4-speed automatic transaxle, a power sunroof, heated and power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, and 16” forged aluminum wheels. The car benefits from a major service in 2020 including a new timing belt, tensioner, and rollers, a new water pump, oil pump gear, crankshaft gear, camshaft sprockets, and drive belts. Previously sold on PCARMARKET, this 1987 Porsche 928 S4 is now being offered for auction by the selling dealer out of New York with approximately 56k miles on the odometer.
Compared to the prior generation Porsche 928, the S4 model features updated bodywork including a rounded aerodynamic nose section with integrated driving lights, a black polyurethane rear spoiler, and larger flush-mounted taillight assemblies. This example is finished in Grand Prix White and equipped with pop-up headlights, headlamp washers, fog lights, body-colored side moldings, an electric sunroof, a rear window wiper, and 16” forged aluminum flat disc wheels. The front Michelin tires are older and the rear Yokohama tires show cracks on the sidewalls. The seller notes that the outer window seals were replaced in 2020, and some exterior cosmetic imperfections are depicted in the photo gallery.
The cabin is appointed with Lipstick Red leather upholstery including optional heated and power-adjustable front seats. The car is equipped with a black leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, power windows and mirrors, a central locking system, automatic climate control, cruise control, rear seat air vents, a digital clock, and an aftermarket Pioneer CD stereo. The seller notes that the air conditioning system was serviced in 2018, and a new pressure switch was installed in 2021.
The fuel-injected 5.0-liter DOHC V8 engine delivers a factory-rated output of 316 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transaxle. The tie rods and steering rack boots were replaced in 2017, and the intake manifold gasket was replaced in 2018 along with the transmission filter, idle control valve, mass airflow sensor, spark plugs, knock sensor, fuel pressure regulator, pressure dampers, and fuel injector clips. The thermostat was replaced in 2019 and service in 2020 included a new timing belt, tensioner gasket, and rollers, a new crankshaft gear and gasket, camshaft sprockets, drive belts, an oil pump gear and seal, a new water pump, coolant expansion tank cap, air filter, and several O-rings and hose clamps.
This sale will include service records and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: "Lovely low mileage 928 S4 in a very handsome and rare specification. It’s been well serviced, records shown in the gallery. Such a head turner, especially with the striking red interior. Thanks, happy holidays, and good luck, everyone!"

As an owner of a cheap 928 S4, on which almost nothing works when bought last year, I love seeing one where it all works. Mine had 25 years of being unmaintained. But it was cheap at $8.5k. Even the power steering doesn't work, and prior owner said he thought that was normal, from comments by others that steering was "stiff".
But just my sad story. These cars offer many benefits. Family with one or two youngsters can all ride to Porsche events, and kids and even small adults can sleep in the rear platform with rear seats down. Or you can even haul many larger things including lumber up to 8' long. I have done that in mine.
Just some random thoughts coming up on the Wednesday closing date.
Hello!
I’ve just added pictures of the dashboard and paint meter readings.
Dash looks great! Paint meter readings overall look good as well, the rear passenger quarter has some outliers.
Thanks

Paint meter readings?
@EnthusiasticEnthusiast - it was noted in prior auctions that the car has a pod cap and a dash cap on it, likely meaning cracked under it, can you confirm and note the condition of the dash and pod under it?
Hello everyone @collexxxter and @aktifspeed
The previous owner had owner the car for 19 years. The BAT auction ended in no sale 6 months ago, and it was subsequently sold to the current owner, who registered it in Alaska, on Pcarmarket.
The current owner did not take delivery of the car and has requested that we sell it on his behalf. The reason for the sale being a new opportunity arising which he’s looking for liquidity to pursue.
We’ve put 4 new tires on the car since his purchase about 5 months ago. The mileage has not changed and the car has remained stored indoors with us since the most recent sale on Pcar.
It’s a lovely 928 and we’ve really enjoyed having it around!
Cheers and thanks!
