Introduced in 1984, the Carrera 3.2 marked the final evolution of Porsche's original 911 series and remains an iconic sports car of the 1980s. This 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is finished in Guards Red over Black upholstery and equips a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle, a 3.2-liter flat-six engine, 16” Fuchs wheels, and more. Reportedly first purchased by San Francisco 49ers head coach Bill Walsh, a three-time Super Bowl champion, this 911 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas with approximately 103k miles showing on the odometer.
This Cabriolet is finished in Guards Red and features a black replacement soft top. Equipment includes integrated front fog lights, headlamp washers, a Porsche-branded rear reflector, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels with black-painted centers and polished outer lips. The car rides on Continental tires dated 21/21. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features black leather seats with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Accessories include a power-operated driver’s seat, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, power windows, air conditioning, a central locking system, cruise control, an analog quartz clock, and an upgraded Alpine head unit.
Power comes from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine factory-rated 207 HP and 192 lb-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed Type 915 manual transaxle. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported, and the seller states a host of documentation will accompany the sale.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a fantastic example of a 1985 911 Cab. This car needs nothing to be enjoyed as is. It would be very difficult to find a better 911 convertible in this desirable color combination. This car drives like new, with no squeaks or rattles.”

I have added a few more photos of the records that will be included with the car. I did find a compression test that was performed a while back.

As on this age of air cooled 911 one of the most important parts of ownership is the constant required valve adjustments. This car had this completed right around 100k miles. New plugs installed at 99946 miles. She is good to go for the next owner.

@GoYanks99 it was certainly owned by the Walsh family, the service records can confirm this all the way up until April of 1991 when it was sold to the 2nd owner Mr. Steven Group by Rector Motor Car Company in Burlingame CA on April the 2nd 1991.
Does the ac blow cold? Can you share the date codes on the tires?
@tlup no need for paint meter on this one, she has all original paint. The records for the last three owners and all the service work done at D and M Motors in Palo Alto, as well as Rector Motor Company in Burlingame will be included with the sale. Its just too much to try to include in the auction. I have added a few of the invoices that will go with the car.

Have you had the car paint metered? Do you know if the paint is original or if it has been re-sprayed? Thank you.
This car being reportedly owned by Bill Walsh makes this so much cooler. 3x Super Bowl champ coaching Joe Montana? Epic

@Jeepnjoe sorry for getting back to my previous question. I meant to ask for any major work on engine or transmission, like a full or partial rebuilt.
We have a little over an hour left on this auction. I want to wish any bidders good luck on this one! Hopefully we are able to put this car in a new owners garage.
@pumpe no problem regarding the question. Yes, this car comes with a ton of service documentation. Plus the smog records for California, this car was in CA most of its life. The best part about this car is you can see the service history from one owner to the next. All of the owners have taken great car of the car, and most of the services happened at the recommended intervals.
Are there any records of work being performed on the engine/transmission or accessories? After 100k mi it would not be unusual… (sorry if I missed a previous comment)

@Handyman630 yes it has AC, and no not the original top, but it was recently replaced.
Does it have AC? Is the top original?

I hope everyone had a GREAT weekend. We have a little over 6 hours left in this auction. Good luck to all bidders.
@SKostek this car shows 0 dents in the body work as well as no rock chips in the front end. This car does not appear to have had any PPF applied during its lifetime. I have personally not done a compression test, but am assuming it would have great results. The car will come with a large notebook FULL of records from all the previous owners. Thanks for your question and interest in this auction.

Does the car have any dents, chips (especially in the front)? Have you installed the clear protective film the front?
in the early 90's I had this exact car, color and wouldn't mind getting another one. When was the last big engine service and what was done? How's the cylinders compression?
Let me just say "Happy Fathers Day Guys"! This auction has a little less than 3 days till completion. I have added a few videos for you to view. Please feel free to message me with any questions and I will do my best to get back to you with answers. Looking forward to putting this car in a new owners hands.

These are my favorite to drive back roads with top down. So fun.
Welcome to my auction. We are looking at a 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet that was purchased new in San Francisco by the then Super Bowl Champion 49ers Head Coach Mr. Bill Walsh. It appears that his family owned this car for the first few years of its life and daily drove the vehicle. The car has been VERY well maintained and is one of the best examples of a 100% stock 911 of this time period. Having driven several 911 vehicles of this age I can tell you with all sincerity it is the best example I have ever experienced. If you have any questions regarding this vehicle please reach out and I will do my best to provide any information I can. Thanks again for looking at this auction, and Good Luck to all!
