Produced for the 1983 model year only, the 911SC Cabriolet was the first Porsche 911 to feature a full open-top convertible design. This example is finished in Quartz Grey Metallic over a Grey Beige interior. It was sold new in Southern California equipped with an optional elevated steering wheel hub, fog lights, cruise control, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. Currently under the care of its second owner, this rare 911SC Cabriolet is being offered for auction out of California with just over 82k miles showing on the odometer.

The exterior is finished in Quartz Grey Metallic (L662) with a black convertible top and a matching boot cover. It features optional front fog lights, body-colored headlamp rings, a fender-mounted antenna, and chromed 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. The seller notes the tires are new and the exterior is in excellent overall condition, apart from some very light chips on the hood. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this 911SC features a Grey Beige (VT) interior with contrasting black seat piping. Accessories include adjustable front bucket seats, folding rear seatbacks, a black leather three-spoke steering wheel, an optional elevated steering wheel, a Porsche-crested wood gear knob, power windows, air conditioning, a heater, cruise control, a Blaupunkt Koln SQR 22 cassette stereo, upgraded Blaupunkt speakers, and a Clifford alarm system keypad. The seller notes the seats have been reupholstered to factory specifications, and the original floor mats are preserved by plastic covers.

An air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 180 HP and 175 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed Type 915 manual transaxle. The seller states the engine was removed for professional cleaning in 2022, and less than 100 miles have been driven since.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, a convertible top boot cover, a battery trickle charger, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is perhaps the cleanest low mileage 911SC you could hope to find.  The photos simply don’t do it justice.  This is an unmolested SC with all the factory equipment in place, down to the original Blaupunkt SQR 22 radio and cassette tray.  The car is as it was from the factory with no modifications, and all the numbers match.  The color was a one year only option with just slightly over 300 copies exported to the States.  1983 Porsche offered the 911 Super Carrera cabriolet, the first true full convertible in Porsche’s lineup since the 60’s.  Nothing is missing from this car, and it is 100% stock.  The car was purchased new in Southern California, it has never been out of state or even driven in the rain.  I am the second owner of the vehicle, and it has a clean Carfax.  If you're looking for a time capsule, you’ve found it.  Fun/fantastic car, I simply don’t drive the car and would prefer that it go to someone who will cherish it and enjoy the ride.”

    @mbaum The piping on the seats is not factory standard for that year, it would’ve been the same color as the seats. I just like it a little bit better in black.

    @Shredderlake - Yes. Old name is Certificate of Authenticity. I think the new process (Which is more expensive and tiered) calls it something else. I saw the option code sticker so that helped. But was wondering on the wheels which do not look standard and the piping for the upholstery.

    Unfortunately, due to my location I can’t check for the sticker. I don’t believe there is one and I think that program started in the spring/summer of 83(?). This is an early 83 car. The odometer has never been altered or tampered with. I’m the second owner of the car and I know the family that had the car before me. Rarely driven, and only with the top down in optimal conditions, I’ve treated the car with the same protocol. I’m not sure what the date of the last maintenance entry was, but I have a binder full of maintenance records. There is no corrosion/rust on/in the car - as stated in the narrative, it’s never been driven in the rain. California car from the beginning, always garaged and covered.

    An additional interest item, the radio is original, turns on and lights up, but does not produce any sound. There is a couple of places in the country that will restore original radios, I will pay for that service if the reserve price is achieved.

  • Aboutiz 5 days, 19 hoursago

    Hello, what a beautiful car !

    Could you confirm that the sticker under the hood is present and that the odometer has never been opened? Is an appraisal available? Are there any rust spots to report? (even small) In addition to the CARFAX, is the maintenance book stamped? (until what date?)

    Thanks in advance,
    Antoine

  • Shredderlake (seller) 6 days, 16 hoursago

    @seller
    Well, I guess I should’ve mentioned something about that in my write up. My apologies! The paint is all original, it’s never been touched, there is some minor chips (very minor) on the hood/bumper that I tried to capture as best I could in the photographs. Very difficult to see unless you get up right on top of it. I’m happy to do a paint thickness test on it, but I am thousands of miles away from the car traveling. I have an old friend in the auto detailing business, He has detailed the car several times over the years, he might have done that test in the past. I know he’s tested some of my other cars. I’ll ask him if he has a record in his file. I won’t be back in town until after the auction ends. The car is housed in the Hanger I own; unfortunately, there’s no way for anyone to get inside, until I return. Let me see if I can figure that out, one way or another.

    I have several Porsche cars and include an 83 Cab with only 18000 original miles but will have to observe mine isn’t much cleaner than this one and it’s a unique color combination to boot, very nice presentation 👏

  • Shredderlake (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

    @Jordanb -
    Yes, all of the standard tuneup items were accomplished, to include ignition wiring harness, coil, belts, plugs, fluids Eng/trans). Additionally the timing chain, clutch, accelerator cable Engine/Transmitions mounts, shocks, brake flush, valve inspection and new gaskets. Essentially, anything that looked marginal or worn we replaced. Thanks for the question.

    Beautiful car! Good job on the engine detail as well. Did you replace any worn/old pieces while you had the engine out? Any maintenance history you can share? Thanks!

  • Billythemountain (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

    Only a G-body Porsche owner could correctly claim 82k+ is 'low mileage'. Lovely car, GLWTS!
