Porsche revived the Super Carrera (SC) designation for the 1978 model year with an updated version of the G-body 911, offering a larger engine with an aluminum crankcase and various design improvements. This 1982 Porsche 911SC Targa has been customized with a Cabriolet roof conversion, pearl blue paint, color-coordinating interior appointments, and 19” aftermarket wheels with new tires. Acquired by the seller about 20 years ago, this SC is now being offered for auction out of California with approximately 71k miles showing on the odometer.
Transformed into a Cabriolet from its original Targa configuration over 20 years ago, this 911SC has been refinished in pearl blue and rides on silver 19” aftermarket wheels with new tires. Equipment includes a manually-operated black retractable soft top, a front chin spoiler, rectangular front fog lights, a "tea tray" rear spoiler, dual side mirrors, a polished side-exit exhaust outlet, and impact bumpers. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black interior has been customized with blue inserts on the seats and door panels. Features include an aftermarket leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel with red stitching, analog gauges, power windows, air conditioning, and a custom center console with an aftermarket display screen.
The air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine is factory-rated at 180 HP and 175 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes a minor oil leak, while no other outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I have owned this car for about 20 years, it has been kept in my garage all the time, I have never had the top up, I drove it the summer only, when I bought the car it had oxidation in paint and bad interior, I bought it for $6000 and put it back together little by little over the years.”

Hi @Busterbrown Thanks for your response to my questions. Sad you didn’t receive a bid that filled your need. Best of luck,
David
Thx ARRRG
Bid in the amount of $18,750
? It’s been sitting for 10 years but the tires are new? Clutch is good and runs great? Please explain. What are the tire date code?
@Havenhearth I do not know where the oil leak is coming from and I have not seen a mechanic to see what the problem is the car has been sitting in my garage for at least ten years not driven fifty miles in that time. The seat belts are still in the car they just look bad and no they do not retract. The door handles are not stock door handles . same with the radio. Anything else that need's to be done the new owner will have to address
Hi BusterBrown,
As we might be entering a relationship, I’m going for candor. May I trust that that’s OK?
The car is interesting and attractive cosmetically. As Porsche owners know, that’s part, but not all of the package.
These are performance cars, and that part isn’t affected by appearance.
Have you put as much effort and expense into upkeep as into the way the car looks?
You have been forthcoming so far about what the car needs, but we don’t know how the car has been treated in terms of mechanical upkeep during your ownership.
Please update us on mechanical status. For example, where is the “small leak” you mention? Have you asked a mechanic or Porsche dealer how much it will cost to fix the leak? Are there “while we’re in there” costs associated?
And please give a description of what you mention as door handles needing attention: is it missing hardware? A change, adjustment or repositioning of parts?
Why do the seatbelts need attention? Do you have them and they haven’t been put back after the re-paint? Are they worn or don’t retract properly?
Thanks for addressing these questions, and for the considerable work and affection you have already invested in this car.
If I’m going to be the next keeper of this handsome vehicle, it’s hard to know what I’m getting into without asking a couple of detailed questions. I like what you’ve done so far, but need to learn how balanced the efforts were in the mechanical upkeep of this handsome car. It’s nice to look at; I need to learn if it’s Great to drive because it’s been kept up to snuff.
I look look forward to learning more.
Thank You.
Regards,
David
Excellent. Thank you. From what you described I could fly in and go for a roader to the east.
@Mithril911 it has new tires, the suspension is good, lights all work, the clutch is in good working condition. Their are a few real small things on the interior that need to be replaced on the door handles and I never got around to replacing the seat belts other than that it is good. Their is no problem with the stability of the car
Thx. The color is enticing. Engine good, no A/C, needs new top. How about the ticky tack stuff: tires, windows, lights, radio antenna, clutch, suspension, etc. I’m apologizing in advance.
@Mithril911 it needs a tune up and it has a small oil leak. The engine run's strong.
Got it. Do you notice an impact on stability from the missing targa bar? More generally how are the engine and drive train? Not a lot of info in the carfax… goes back to my question of what’s up next for maintenance. Thx 🙏
@Mithril911 you would have to repair the top I bought it the way it is. In all the years that I have owned it I never used it
Bid in the amount of $18,500
Hello Seller, new to site and couldn’t DM. Love the color and new lid but questions. Where I am I would want to close and be water tight - thoughts? Also what’s the next maintenance you would do?
Bid in the amount of $250
The listing has been updated.
That’s not a Whale Tail, it’s a Tea Tray.
@Funracer no , it has n0 ac the original color was black, it has no rust, it has always been in a garage all the time i have owned it
No compressor in the back. Did you convert to electric A/C? What is the original color? Any accidents? Rust? Any original parts come with the car? Cold start video? Underside pics would be nice.
Thanks
