Initially delivered at Alan Johnson Porsche Audi in San Diego, California, this 1979 Porsche 928 is finished in Mocha Brown over a brown leather interior. It was further configured with a 5-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, heated side mirrors, power seats, and more. Reported to have spent much of its time in Arizona, this 928 is now being offered for auction out of Michigan with just over 50k miles showing on the odometer. This example is finished in the seldom-seen shade of Mocha Brown. Equipment includes pop-up headlamps, headlight washers, integrated fog lights, heated side mirrors, a rear window wiper and defogger, and dual exhaust tips. The car rides on polished 15” Phone Dial alloy wheels with Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 tires from 2022. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin presents brown leather, matching carpets, and previously reupholstered front seats. Options include power seats and an alarm system. Standard amenities consist of air conditioning, automatic cruise control, an adjustable steering column, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and power windows, door locks, mirrors, and a power antenna. All gauges and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.
This first-generation 928 is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.5L V8 engine that was factory-rated at 230 HP and 253 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a desirable 5-speed manual transaxle. Standard performance features include electronic ignition, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, four-wheel vented disc brakes, and a brake booster. A major fuel system service was completed in February 2021 along with the replacement of the timing belt, water pump, and some trim pieces. Additionally, an aftermarket exhaust system was previously fitted, and a collection of service records is provided in the gallery.
This sale will include a clean title, a window sticker, owner’s manuals, and service documentation.

Any fluid leaks?
We owned this car. Bought it in Arizona. My partner had the seats redone at a pretty penny. The color is Mocha not retro brown metallic. It went reserve not met when we ran it on these pages. A super nice guy bought it and he and his son flew in from Ohio and drove it home. If I recall he collected a few trophies at the Porsche meets. His friend there had a 1980 930 Turbo also in Mocha. I’ve got a picture of them side by side. This car ran wonderfully and the only thing it lacked was a set of properly staggered phone dials. It’s a fine example of an early unadorned 928 with the non interference engine and a 5-speed. GLWTS
@Epicmc the car does look like it was repainted by prior ownership. It's super clean. I just took some photos with the paint meter and asked PCAR to post them. They should show up soon. I do not see any evidence of body work.
@EddieBrannon yes they are. I just took a few photos and asked PCAR to add them to the listing. They should show up soon. Thank you.
