This Porsche 356 Speedster replica was constructed by Classic Motor Carriages (CMC) of Miami. It was built upon a 1973 Volkswagen chassis and is powered by a 1,493cc air-cooled flat-four-cylinder engine sourced from a VW Beetle 1500 and has been fitted with a new carburetor and alternator. Finished in black over tan upholstery, it features a tan tonneau cover, a wooden steering wheel, diamond-stitched seats, 15" chrome slotted wheels, and more. This 356 replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
The fiberglass bodywork is finished in black and mounted over a modified Volkswagen Beetle chassis. It features chrome trim, front and rear bumper guards, dual side-view mirrors, gold Porsche badging, teardrop-style taillights, dual exhaust outlets, and polished 15” slotted wheels wrapped in a new set of tires. It also includes hood straps and a tan tonneau cover. The seller reports signs of wear on the paint with minor chips, overall rated as “good” condition. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The interior showcases low-back bucket seats upholstered in diamond-stitched tan leather, complemented by a color-coordinated dash pad, handbrake boot, and door panels with map pockets. It is equipped with black carpets on the floors and a wood-rimmed steering wheel featuring a Porsche crested horn button. The seller notes a minor crack in the windshield and the absence of the original radio, though reassures that all gauges are fully functional.
Power comes from a 1,493cc air-cooled flat-four-cylinder engine equipped with a new carburetor. The rear wheels are driven through a Volkswagen-sourced 4-speed manual transmission, and front disc and rear drum brakes facilitate braking power.
