This 1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible reportedly underwent a complete frame-off restoration in its original color combination of Limelight Green over Dark Green vinyl upholstery in 2022. It features a freshly built 400ci V8 engine, which has been bored .030 over with JE pistons, Eagle rods, a Lunati camshaft, and Kauffman Racing cylinder heads. The car also features a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission, a 3.73 Positraction rear end, a Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection system, Doug’s headers, Hotchkis sway bars, Competition Engineering Traction bars, power-assisted steering and brakes, a tilt three-spoke leather steering wheel, bucket seats, a Hurst shifter, a dual scoop hood, a hood-mounted tachometer, 15” body-colored wheels, and a power convertible top. This comprehensively restored and tastefully modified Firebird Convertible is now being offered for auction out of Texas.
This Firebird has been refinished in its original color of Limelight Green (2080) with a new black power-operated convertible top. Chrome trim adorns the front grille, windshield frame, rocker panels, and rear bumper. Equipment includes a front air dam, quad headlamps, a dual scoop hood, a hood-mounted tachometer, a fender-mounted antenna, front fender vents, a polished driver side mirror, a body-colored rear spoiler, twin downturned exhaust outlets, and body-colored 15” wheels with chrome hubcaps and Firestone redline tires. The seller notes that the frame-off restoration was carried out to a very high standard, and the paint remains in pristine overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior has been restored to its original appearance with Dark Green vinyl upholstery, matching carpets, and woodgrain trim. Accessories include front bucket seats, a rear bench seat, lap belts, roll-up windows, a tilt three-spoke leather steering wheel, a Hurst shifter, a heater, a Delco stereo, and auxiliary gauges mounted in the center console. The seller notes the hood-mounted tachometer is slow to respond at first, but it works properly once the car warms up.
Power comes from a 1970 date-coded 400ci V8 engine that has been rebuilt, bored .030 over, and upgraded with JE pistons, Eagle connecting rods, a Pontiac nodular crankshaft, Kauffman Racing aluminum D-port cylinder heads, and a Lunati camshaft. The engine also features Doug’s headers, a Holley dual sync distributor, a Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection system, and an Edelbrock Torker II air intake. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission and a 3.73 Positraction rear end. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering and brakes, Hotchkis sway bars, and Competition Engineering traction bars. The seller states the oil and filter were recently replaced.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Over-the-top restoration and as nice as you will find, and runs and drives as nice as it looks.”

@dukeyr ... We did not do the restoration and do not have those receipts
Bid in the amount of $39,500
What a car. I had a set of Dogdish caps on my '68 Camaro and it looked like a sleeper, so I left them on also. GL
If I missed it, I apologize, but are there records to show when the restoration was done and how much was spent?
@KRMartin928 Thank you for your comment, it is a great car.
Very nice - Great memories. I had a 1967 400 convertible - I added the open scoop hood with the tach along with an Offenhauser Dual Port manifold & Holley Carb. How much fun to drive a car from that era now. Beautiful restoration & nice choice of upgrades. Since it isn't total showroom stock, how about a set of Cragar S/S wheels........ :-)
