An early short-wheelbase example, this 1967 Porsche 911 Coupe is finished in Polo Red over a Black interior and features an upgraded 2.7-liter engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. It was refinished in its factory color before the current owner’s purchase in 2015 and comes with a refurbished black interior, new GTS Classic bucket seats, a 350mm steering wheel, a WEVO shifter, Bilstein shocks, a Tarett Engineering front sway bar, Turbo tie rods, stainless-steel brake lines, a Golde electric sunroof, H4 headlamps, and professionally restored 15” Fuchs wheels. Accompanied by service documentation, the original 4-speed manual gearbox, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this 2.7-powered 911 is now being offered for auction out of California with less than 30k miles reported since the engine build.

This 911 is said to have been refinished in its factory Polo Red (6602) paint color in 2014. Details include chrome trim and body moldings, chrome bumperettes with rubber overriders, a driver’s side mirror, H4 headlamps, an aftermarket Golde electric sunroof, front vent windows, pop-out rear quarter windows, and anodized gold badging on the rear decklid. The car rides on 15” Fuchs wheels from 1972, which have been professionally restored and dressed in Yokohama Neova AD08R tires. The seller adds that the paint and original glass remain in excellent overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The black interior has been refurbished with new carpeting, headliner, vinyl upholstery, and fixed-back GTS Classics sport bucket seats. Other items include a 370mm four-spoke leather steering wheel, brushed aluminum dashboard trim, a wood shift knob, a WEVO shifter, manual roll-up windows, a locking glovebox, a heater, lap belts, a fire extinguisher, black coco floor mats, and analog VDO instrumentation. The sale includes an OEM steering wheel and a 350mm custom steering wheel. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

Installed and rebuilt under previous ownership, the 1974 Porsche 911-sourced 2.7-liter flat-six engine features RS-spec pistons and cylinders, Carrera chain tensioners, Dilavar head studs, updated idler arms, and a high-volume oil pump. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement 5-speed Type 901 manual transaxle that was refurbished by S-CAR-GO of San Rafael in 2018. The original 4-speed manual gearbox is included in the sale. Stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes with refurbished front calipers and upgraded stainless-steel lines. The suspension has also been lowered and modified with Bilstein shocks, Turbo tie rods, and a Tarett Engineering 25mm adjustable front sway bar. The seller notes that the car has been meticulously maintained during their ownership, and invoices are available for all major services.

This sale will include the original 4-speed manual gearbox, two extra steering wheels, a collection of original parts, owner’s manuals, a spare tire, a tire inflator, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a rust-free CA long hood with no issues. Clean car that looks/drives great and garners lots of attention. All original glass is in great condition. It has been lowered and corner-balanced, but could easily be raised back to its original height. I've owned it for 10 years, and my project is done.”

Just posted a pic of the passenger side swing arm. It could stand new paint but is rust free. This piece is smaller than it looks in the pic and is way back there. Guess I never even checked it out until now

I don't see anything on the swing arm or elsewhere but I just sanded off what I fixed before and posted a pic of the bare metal so you can see it was just surface rust. I posted a pic of it re painted too. Hard to believe but it really is a rust free 67. I don't know about the first owner but the guy I bought it from had it parked in his garage. I keep my old rust prone cars in my well vented garage with a big box fan going 24/7. The air is always moving so rust can't start on my tools and cars

@chiefie Ok. Thank You. I've reviewed the most recent photo, but upon zooming in it looks like more bubbling/rust beyond the passenger side frunk swing arm? Maybe this is a resolution issue.

Fwiw, I am seriously interested. I just want to know as much as possible before bidding.

  • chiefie (seller) 1 week, 5 daysago

Yes, an old photo. That was a small area of surface rust that bubbled the paint at the back underside of the trunk lid. This has been addressed. I just took a new shot and added it to the gallery

@chiefie Please look at photo number 105 in the BaT listing: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-porsche-911-coupe-26/

This is the rust under the hood that I am referring to.

I'd like to add that, as you can see in the dash pic, the odometer recently flipped over 60k miles.
I purchased the car with 50k mi. The car was originally purchased new in Beverly Hills. The old guy (I believe second owner) I bought it from swore the odometer hadn't flipped over, that he and the original owner drove it sparingly. Upon inspection I believe it to be true milage. The original Sekurit windshield is not sparkly, the fuel filler stem shows no wear and neither does the original rubber on the pedals. The engine has less than 30k on the rebuild. A pic of that build is in the gallery to see the upgrades.
A compression test reads 150psi across the board and it doesn't leak one drop of oil. The engine was replaced because he couldn't pass CA smog (before the pre 1976 smog exempt law). I found the builder of this 2.7 and he said he might be able to locate the original engine
I never pursued it as the 2.7S has much better power than the original 2.2 and I had no intention of swapping it back. This guy was a well known Porsche specialist and was in the process of building his own airplane when I talked with him.

The shiny pics of the hood latch were taken after I removed and cleaned off the paint. There was never any rust under the hood
There is no rust on this car that I can find and I've been over every square inch. When I bought the car I had the front pan replaced. Not for rust but for battery corrosion. The battery tray is integrated with the pan. New pan welded on laser straight, sealed, painted and good to go for the next 58 years :^)

  • hootie (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

In some pictures the hood/trunk latch mechanism is silver and in other pictures the hood/trunk latch mechanism is painted red/oversprayed. Why is there an inconsistency?

Is there any rust on the car? From the 2023 BaT listing, there is a photo of rust under the hood. Has that been addressed or does it remain?

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

Handsome classic Porsche ( even in red ha ha ha )
The body lines are perfect on these models along hood, the chrome bumpers, active rear side window windows. Just a great package with a great motor.
    Good luck all

  • chiefie (seller) 1 week, 5 daysago

The drain holes are in the roof gutters above the rear flip out side windows. In later years Porsche put the drains inside the pillars which can be a typical rust spot. When I wash the car water drips down the quarter panels for a bit. I chase it off with my leaf blower

  • eurocol (registered bidder) 1 week, 6 daysago

I like the sunroof option, but where are the drain holes?

This certainly brings back memories for myself and many of the viewers. I owned several of these vintage 911s from new. The lines are so clean and the car is a true classic and fun driver as are 356s. This example seems to be a keeper. Good luck on the sale!!

I love this car but it's time to let it go. The 2.7S engine is a screamer that doesn't leak a drop. The car handles like it's on rails, it's never seen the track but is track ready. Really hard to let this one go.
I'll be happy to answer any questions and fill you in on the build
